Possibly screwed growth
    #21863058 - 06/27/15 08:17 AM (8 years, 7 months ago)

2 months ago I bought a grow kit. During 1st month rye bag was colonizing slowly in room temperature, so some time ago i decided to put the bag on a warming pillow and it was a mistake. Bag is a little moist inside, colonization retreated and it looks like it dried out a little, and there is almost no sign of white anymore. My question is:
Is this situation recoverable or should I buy another syringe? Is this rye still good to grow on? The bag doesn't look contaminated, just moist inside.
Please answer, this is my first time growing and I already screwed it up on first base:(

If the growth was stopped by the heat, you could open up the bag and use the colonized mycellium (white stuff) to spawn more jars of substrate. You can do this through a g2g transfers to by making agar plates or a LC and toss in a sterile piece of mycellium from your bag
This may be difficult to do correctly/ without contamination, but if you follow sterile procedures yo a t you may end up with lots of clean mycellium (:
Good luck and welcome to Shroomery!

You say there is "almost" no sign of myc left? If there's still some healthy myc it will likely recover.

Now you know not to use a heat pad in the future:thumbup:
