GREEN DOTS on tape inside fully colonized monotub.
    #21862090 - 06/26/15 11:15 PM (8 years, 7 months ago)

So guys. My mycelium looks healthy and smells good. I just started going to fruiting mode today. There's this green dot shit growing on the masking tape that I used to cover the holes during colonization. It appears to have NOT spread to the myc so I'm assuming that the myc is strong enough to hold its own? Should I toss or let it fruit? What is this nasty stuff? It's only on the tape! Please help

It isn't spreading so that's good. Not ready to be tossed yet. Mycelium isnt letting it germinate. Next time use a plastic tape or duct tape. Taping the liner defeats its purpose too so you don't need that much tape.

Masking tape is a quick one to mold. I made the mistake of using masking tape for making my last sterile lab. it was made of painters plastic. Bounded with a combination of duct tape and masking tape. About 3 months in, the masking tape sections of the lab had to be torn out and rebuilt, due to mold. The same you speak of and black too!

Had a feeling it was the fucking tape. Made a thread asking about it, everyone unanimously told me "use whatever tape you want, it doesn't matter". Guess it does.
The myc is holding its ground, I'm trying to fruit now so we'll see what happens...

Heh, in all fairness you were asking whether you should scotch tape or duct tape with no mention of masking tape. Looks like it's turning out fine anyway though.

I have left tape in almost every single tub I have done ever, NEVER had it discolor or contaminate.

I use Painters tape though

AND I FUCKING LOVE IT.

It was probably just some bad tape? I noticed the exposed adhesive on the tape turned into a slime with all the humidity in the tub and the slime eventually turned into mold. But the mycelium had it beat! Fruits appeared and by the time they were ready to be picked, I noticed the mold had not only stalled, but recessed! The myc wasn't taking any shit. This is my first batch ever and I'm proud to say, I tripped. They were kinda weak but it was multispore. I feel motivated enough now to isolate strains and all that shit. I just didn't believe in myself. Pics!
