Tried mushrooms for headaches, bad reaction

I tried taking mushrooms for headaches, which did seem to help. However, I am a bit nervous of doing them again. I do not know if my "bad" trip was me or not. So, while waiting I fell asleep. Suddenly, I was awake, and I mean AWAKE. I snapped my eyes open and sat up like I'd just been attacked and was 1000% ready to go. What I am nervous about is I felt incredibly violent. I have a dagger about 6 inches (~15 cm) long and had the most intense desire to stab some one. I mean I truly wanted to hurt or kill some one else. Really nervous about using again. Really nervous. Schizophrenia and other mental illness is in the family and I know if you are prone drugs can induce mental disorder. I'm nervous about if it was "real" or just due to falling asleep while waiting and the massive adrenaline rush I felt when waking up.

How long were you asleep? You could have been in a highly aware lucid state and awoke with the same feelings as we often do.

You might want to trying lowering the dose to one that's only weakly psychoactive. It might still help with the headaches. I Know people who treat their migraines that way, and they say it works. Try eating only a couple of caps and see if it still helps.

Not sure how along I was asleep, but it was not very long, I think. Not sure about any dreaming or anything. I basically do not recall dreams. In the last 15 years or so I have remember around 4 dreams. I doubt I mostly don't dream, that appears to be unbelievable rare.
I think next time I will try a bit lower of a does, and definitely will not fall asleep.

Nothing will give you schizophrenia, but things (like mushrooms and even cannabis) certainly bring it out and/or exacerbate it and similar conditions.
You don't need much for headaches, you don't even need enough to trip.
I would recommend staying far far away from drugs like these, especially given the family history

You don't have to take a high dose of shrooms to treat headaches. Why not start at a microdose (0.1g or so) and slowly up the dose until you find one that starts working.
Most people who use mushrooms for migraines and cluster headaches don't take full doses.
