Starting lophs from seeds help
    #21861608 - 06/26/15 08:54 PM (8 years, 7 months ago)

So I have 40+ Lophophora Williamsii seeds coming in, and Im really excited because its always been my goal in life to have a few of these growing. They'll be like a part of the family

But anyways, I'm looking to be pointed in the right direction as far as cultivating them goes. I've read different things as far as germinating seeds goes. Would a mix of coir, pumice, perlite, and natural coarse river sand be a could mix for germinating the seeds in? and would putting the seeds in a tray and putting the tray in a mini greenhouse I have be a good idea for germinating them or would it be better to put them in a small container with a lid to act as a mini propagator?

My plan is to eventually graft some of the seedlings to pereskiopsis, one to a stenocereus I have, one to a T. Pachanoi, and leaving the rest in the tray. I read somewhere that the seedlings could be grafted as early as 4-6 weeks old. Does this sound right?

Thanks in advance guys!

If you have both pumice and perlite, I would leave out the perlite and use more pumice. The perlite floats and is annoying.

Seedlings can be grafted as early as a few days old if grafting to pereskiopsis
