DIY Humidifer Question

Hey all,
I built a DIY Humidifier for my Oyster grows, using a small pond fogger, bucket, pipe and PC Fan.
The pond fogger is attached to a float inside the bucket. The bucket is about 1/4 full with water. The PC Fan is on the lid of the bucket, pulling air into the bucket and forcing the fog through a clear pipe into my oyster chamber.
It works well and keeps my chamber at between 90 - 99% RH.
The problem is, there seems to be water accumulating / leaking from the PC Fan on the lid of the bucket. I don't really know how this is possible as the fan is nowhere near the water, and is pulling air INTO the bucket, not sucking it out. I'm guessing it's due to evaporation or something, has anyone encountered this before?

This thread was moved from Mushroom Cultivation.
Reason: Since you're growing Oysters, this belongs to G&MM.

Its because thats a small fan for cooling and not meant to forcefully push air. Find a bigger fan to help stop most of the backdraft. Its also not waterproof so be careful if its getting saturated.

Putting a tube between the fan and pail should help keep moisture away from the fan. Do you have the ultramist on a timer? They last longer when used intermittently.

Thanks for the tips guys, I'll elevate the fan on a piece of pipe and see if that helps. I've only got an ultramist, cool mists are nearly impossible to find where I'm from. I've run a few trials and looks like it's working successfully with sufficient FAE and minimal condensation. The greenhouse itself is only a 3-tier desktop greenhouse. Humidifier is wired to the humidity sensor which automatically turns it on when RH drops below 90%. Combined with a tray of damp perlite at the bottom, the RH consistently stays between 90% - 99%. I've got some jars of Turkey Tail I'm about to bag up and throw in there, will post some pics once done!

What kind of controller do you have? You should be able to dial it in within 1% RH of your setpoint depending on what unit you have. Sounds like a solid small setup.

Same one from your greenhouse thread man, actually PM'd you about it
I was originally looking at controllers designed for Reptile enclosures, I had seen the cheaper controllers but I wasn't aware that you could actually wire accessories to them. So your thread saved me a decent chunk of cash man, much appreciated

Im really glad my thread helped someone out! Yea if you have all the settings correct it will kick in when its 1% off. The settings should be as follows,
HC = H D = 1 this is the one that matters for accuracy RH LS = 75 HS = 99, you and I talked about that already so you should be good there. CA = whatever your wet towel calibration calls for, mine was 7 PT = 0

Thanks man! I have some pink, phoenix and blue oysters and rishi going ATM. Just harvested some blues for breakfast yesterday. Im still working on my substrate, it seems the sawdust i sourced has too much pine and im getting small yields. This week im switching to local free mulch. If all else fails ill go buy some bales of wheat straw.

This my setup 6" inline fan will a shop vac filter on it we use a small timer to control it.

6" duct work into the trash can with a 6" floating water atomizer

For our room, (7'x11') it should be a 4" fan and duct
