Indoor: outdoor:
I know the difference is in fresh air and natural light but does anyone have any luck with getting indoor grow to look dark and meaty caps? These pics are the exact same strain. The outdoor bed is 2 inch thick straw disks that I placed under about 1 inch of dirt.

My opinion is that light and air circulation have much to do with it. Oysters are particularly responsive to those 2 factors as well as temp swings

I think my caps get darker when it is cooler inside. I love the outside kings though, nice pic

here's my king oysters outdoors, growing on a buried sawdust block. Slugs and snails looooove them in my area. They're much firmer and tastier than the same strain grown indoors...

Here are some outdoor kings that were fruiting in the fall when there was almost no humidity.

Every time I try to grow any type of oysters outside the fungus gnats and slugs get way more than I do. I may get to eat 1 out of 10. It's still cool to see them pop up almost over night though.

Hey grower I could send you a wedge if you like just pm me.
Anyways, ya the outdoor beds are flushing like crazy even though it's 30+ deg c right now. Got over 4 lbs already from a straw log cut into slices and buried. It had already flushed once in the grow room as well. I just can't seem to get them to perform at all in my grow room. Small caps, cracked stems, aborts. It's either too wet or too dry it seems. Need to dial in the conditions. I've just seen some pictures on here of people getting outdoor looking kings indoors. Need to figure that out
