Its pretty hard to believe in nothing if you take enough psychs.
I was raised religious though.

Who is negating? The words would be translated to english as "the nothing nothings"
"“But what is remarkable is that precisely in the way scientific man secures to himself what is most properly his, he speaks of something different. What should be examined are beings only, and besides that - nothing; beings alone, and further - nothing; solely beings, and beyond that - nothing. What about this nothing? How is it with the nothing?”

Actually there are various gases (air) inside the cup when 'nothing' is in it. Dumbass

If there is air in it, then it isn't empty.

If we suppose there can be absolute nothing, then that nothing is itself something. This is what you're going to get if you go all the way with the question. Furthermore you'll hit the edge of the linguistic structure, this is a paradox of entities in language. You can't get a clear answer because the notion of absolute nothing presupposes you, the observer, in acknowledging it as being such a thing.

Me speculating out loud, hopefully something about it makes sense:
Upon pondering the nihilistic ponder, which we all do from time to time, it becomes obvious that consciousness is essentially the basis for everything. This point is explained here:
Quote:
"Well, yeah it depends what you mean by consciousness, I think, what I mean by consciousness; consciousness is the one thing in this universe that can't be an illusion. Consciousness is the fact of experience, the fact that something is happening, the fact that the lights are on in some basic sense, even if we don't understand anything. So even if I'm a brain in a vat, what I'm calling consciousness is still a manifest fact of reality, and is the basis for every other fact that I would experience, or adduce or otherwise bring into the conversation, so I think consciousness can't be an illusion."
- Sam Harris
So I suppose that one could argue, wherever there is a conception of a thing, or awareness of a thing, then there is something. Sun King argued that when a cup is empty, there is nothing in it. By thinking about what is in the cup, however, we fill the cup with consciousness. Merely thinking about 'nothing' is to fill ones consciousness with an idea, an awareness, a subject (the subject of 'nothing'). Thinking about nothing, therefore, turns 'nothing' into a subject (a thing). Therefore actual 'nothingness' cannot be conceived of.
