    #21855169 - 06/25/15 01:19 PM (8 years, 7 months ago)

I have a home receiver with no usb ports and would like to know if i can buy an adapter to run an external hard drive from its usb connection to a hdmi port on my home receiver for playing video.

will any of these do it?

http://www.amazon.ca/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=usb+to+hdmi+adapter&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Ausb+to+hdmi+adapter

Thanks for any help.

Can your receiver decode the video files?  I am guessing that it cannot.  I suggest a small computer for this.

That was a quick reply for sure thank you. I guess thats the only choice is a cheap laptop to run the hdmi into the aux of the home receiver. I had my fingers crossed for a cheap fix of some kind. It is an older receiver and works great for surround sound on cable tv but my external drive is tv sound only.
