Life expectancy
    #2185512 - 12/17/03 04:33 PM (12 years, 11 months ago)

Currently, the life expectancy for americans is male 69, and female 72. Do you think that will change? Do you think obesity, physical inactivity, and environmental pollution will have a detrimental effect on life spans, despite improving standards of living?

No, because I think surgery, medicine, and elimination of diseases we wouldn't think twice about killing us would balance that out. It has in the past 100 years...
You're right tho, Obesity, inactivity, and pollution are slowly worsening, but not to the point I think to reverse the growing life expectancy.

72 is the life expectancy of a woman born 72 years ago. a baby born today will have a longer life expectancy. it has already changed. it's always changing due to advances in medicine.

How long has such innovative technology been in use? Less than 100 years. We shall find out in the future what a capitalistic nation that thrives on consumerism and a lack of culture results in.

The world is too crowded as it is just think 50 years time there will be nothing but old people, cos the life expectancy would of gone up. Realy we should all expect to live to at least 80 especialy with todays medicine and just think what we will have then.

They are even trying to develope drugs to slow down ageing.

My great-grandmother died at age 101, so methinks I've got a long way to go.

Well if overpopulation continues and we dont make it to space then the goverments may make it mandatory.

I think that by the time i am old...like in 60 years they will have found a way to make humans immortal. Replace all their organs with artificial stuff...Not that i agree with that, but by the way technology is goin, it could be a possibility...

But overpopulation will suck, unless we conquer space that is.

I don't see why I didn't die at 15, then again at 21, and again at 35. I can't believe I'm still alive when I'm already so totally useless. I don't see that long life is a deterrent. People can still try to find ways to shorten it.

Just kidding. I don't want the peeps to think I'm nuts. I think people could easily live longer if they had internal discipline like yoga, and the ability to control their rancour at the world. Less energy spent means more conserved. If life expectancy is better then this is a bonus. However, it beggars the question of what there is to live for without letting loose. But again,

it's all one.

face lifts round the house!
maby rich people will grow clones for themselves, to have a perfect organ match..

we will probably continue too live longer and longer..but i dont' think i'd want too..
you would probably still feel really tired out all the time, and eventully you would probably just look awful.
and when we do live to be 150..when the world gets waaaaaaaaaaaaay over populated..i wonder what 'they' will do too us then...?
