I grew up in the Balkans and G.Bregovic lead the band Bijelo Dugme at the time ... still some of the best music I have ever heard.

Goran B is one of the most accomplished composers of all kinds of music since the 1960's , most his songs were hits starting with his first band Bijelo Dugme which pretty much dominated the Yu charts 70s , 80s .

I am a bible on Balkan music if you need any suggestions I could list you a ton of stuff coming from all genres and all have the Balkan feel in some way even Punk Rock ...

For now let me introduce you to a very highly respected composer and multi instrumentalist of some of the finest Eastern European music out there.

All real acoustic instruments no synth , this guy is great live too... I am a fan of Peter Gabriel's world music stuff also Dead Can Dance, but I am yet to hear a more calming sound than Omar Faruk's instrumental stuff ... the harp player is playing at insane speeds at times but the song remains calm.

  Omar Faruk Tekbilek
