How long would substrate last

So I had some mushrooms already growing in a jar of prepared substrate. I left them there for quite some time. Its been around four months already and I never actually birthed them, just left them in the jar. I was wondering if these would actually carry psilocybin in them or not due to them probably being contaminated and old or due to the substrate being old or unusable. Help would greatly be appreciated

You should birth the cake and get a closer look at the fruit bodies. Chances are they may have rotted. But maybe not???? My friend has forgotten about 32 brf jars before that showed no growth after a month. Left them in a box for 11 months! Just to accidentally find the box with over half the jars fully colonized! Birthed them, dunked and rolled with average results.bit the point being...
Even after 11 months, even though the substrate dried out significantly, the myc still grew. Just needed the dunk to Kickstart fruiting.
You should birth those bad boys and get a better look at them! Maybe you'll have some luck like my friend.

Im not trying to birth them. I was asking because they got confiscated and I'm looked at a manufacturing of psilocybin charge. thats why I want to know. If they don't come up as positive I will likley get that charge thrown out.

If that's the case, then who knows man.
I know people that got busted with a bunch of mushrooms but they were still wet. When they were sent off to to be tested, cops don't know shit on how to preserve them so they turned rotten before they could be tested.
You might get lucky

It has low levels but I believe it still has psilocybin and psilocin. I know it's probably the last thing you want to hear, but this is why only spores are legal. They don't have psilocin and psilocybin
I hope you do get lucky let's hope it gets contaminated. (Never thought I'd ever say that. What a messed up world we live in)

If the jar has healthy viable mycelium, then it is likely it contains psilocybin. Let's hope it contaminates, or they take the myc out of the jars or something else stupid happens!
But I'd also like to know how/why the jar was confiscated anyways? You didn't admit to anything did you?

No I didn't admit to anything. Its's a messed up situation where they said my door was open(Could be possible but who knows) and they went in found a pipe so they kicked opened a locked door and found some bud growing and one jar that was prepared previously. They are using the caretaker clause to dispute the whole situation. It's a bunch of bullshit in my opinion but you never know.
