Black fuzz on cap..
    #21851565 - 06/24/15 05:23 PM (8 years, 7 months ago)

Hi all,

Can anybody tell me what this is, or if I should be concerned?

Note, it is the topmost mushroom, it is not sporeprints..

It wipes off very easily as can be seen in fingerprints..

Thanks!

Thanks, but it can't be spores, because there were no mushroom caps above it to drop them..

mushrooms create their own wind when they open their caps in order to spread their spores as far as they can go. trust the answers, they're spores

Are you sure about that? Pretty sure I read an article on that awhile ago on yahoo.
It said it had to do with how the mushrooms evaporate moisture or something.

sorry to disagree with a TC especially when I am nowhere near as educated as you in the art of cultivation, but you're wrong. mushrooms create their own wind through water evap off the cap once it's opened. Don't believe me, look it up.

What, you want me to use the search function for you?

Why don't you prove that the currents inside a fruiting chamber come from the fruits and not the chamber.

Yes evaporating creates humidity, and the fruits create heat, both of these currents both of these rise. But the airflow inside the tub is determined by the holes in the tub. This is logic.

Yuppp, just did a quick search. Couldn't find nothing.

Cron had a post awhile ago talking about mushrooms creating wind though.

And them people in that link weren't even talking about mushrooms in fruiting chambers lol

Yes, this is true. But what you said is that fruiting bodies do not create their own air flow, which is incorrect. They do in indoor cultivation and in the wild.

But like I said, I'm not tryin to debate it with you though, because you are far more skilled and knowledgeable than I, and I have used many of your teks and info in my own hobbying.

Yea, but there are other variables at play.....it is not soley from the "wind" that the fruits create.......air flow plays a big role as well....

I don't think I said other things weren't at play.

I just said they create wind lol
