Help! Looking for Passion!!
    #21851542 - 06/24/15 05:17 PM (8 years, 7 months ago)

I have no passion. Nothing interests me. I constantly look for something that enlivens me.

I try programming. It’s challenging. It stimulates my brain. Is it enlivening? Not really. It feels more like a distraction. The main reason I am learning programming is to try to figure out what professional programmers actually do. It’s the mystery of the activity that motivates me. Though I doubt it will enliven me.

I try studying history to become a high school history teacher. The information floods my brain. Most of it doesn’t stick. Again, it’s a distraction. High school teaching history may be good for me for a couple of years, but I can see it just becoming a distraction.

Everything feels like a distraction to me.

PUPPETS!

Challenging activities are still just distractions. Even after completion, I may feel a flash of pride, but it goes away instantly.

Nothing gives me joy. The activity of writing right now is closer to joy because it is a mental relief. It unburdens me. However, there is not much else I have interest in writing about aside from trying to discover what interests me.

The present moment is cool. I meditate on the present moment when I wake up for twenty minutes. In the present moment there is always potential. What will happen next?

Maybe I shouldn’t seek joy. Then what should I seek? Money? Challenges? But everything is challenging! But just because it is challenging doesn’t mean it is joyful. The challenge of the activity doesn’t motivate me.

The only thing that really motivates me is the desire to achieve a state of freedom and creativity. Where does this state exist? Dreams are the closest place to this state. That mystery is my main motivator to live.

HELP! Please I need some suggestions. Any thing will be accepted.

really made me smile, just the title of it. :smile:

ya - over coming things is great, but the greatest to overcome is the self. .

as they say, no one can take that away from you :smile: and it's very true. . .

i have mostly been interesting in achieving pure health, and perfect peace, from a young age. . . it occurred to me as among the most important.  worthwhile.

fairly recently we have learned that 'cramming' is not the best way. . . i wouldn't be able to give you a study of this, i heard it - yet it jives with what i've seen, so i understood it as valuable info. . .

i guess, most simply that would entail having more time to relax, meditate in nature - then information is retained much better. . .

i have an (almost) completely eidetic memory. . a significant part of it though is i don't intake info that is unhelpful or non-useful.

since very early childhood, i've had the rather strong belief that every human has this capability - as inherent potential. .

i.e., the info is there, the question is retrieval, so once again aiming for that peace and health --

then a while later.. . within the last year or so - i explored something else

Emerson said, every person has a Genius - ova the last year i have seen this in action. . . what can express it?  it very much seems to be true.  any person can reach the highest level of understanding and love. .

when i saw how true this was, it was quite profound.  kept learnin' and explorin'; light and more light. . .

'more light' were Goethe's last words, incidentally :sun:

'learn instead of burn, hear what i say,' - hendrix. :sun:

to me, the way our actions affect the earth has always been important. . . and it seems rather good - to focus our attention now on attaining peace - for good.

so that's a possibility :smile:

it's a wonderful thing. . . for me, i have found, there are so many levels. . .

for 1 thing - the simple path of 1)seek peace, and 2) share it, can be found in fairly well every culture. .

as well as, various descriptions of what that exp is like.

just some words. :sun:

very interesting to see and welcome to the Shroomery. :smile:

It's good to get different experiences like programming and history. You might drop some of those things, or pursue them. If you pursue them, your motivation for doing them may change. But you'll find your passion some day. It's not so much what you do, but why you do it.

Hi! Thank you for your reply.

I admire that you have tried to achieve pure health and perfect peace.

Can you please go into more detail about that? What do you do all day? Do you have a passion?

there is no 'tried'  :sun:

anywho - composed mentally a response, may have been better than the following one,

several things, examine nature; cats, other animals, learn from them,

an open heart grows stronger, while a closed one does not;

explore dreams of light. .

follow the heart, to the source of life,

know there is no reason for sorrow - ever - because all is light;

this doesn't diminish our responsibility to be kind, in the slightest. .

peace and health are available always - to reach them is simply to reach stillness;

i do have many passions, such as chess, logic, art, beauty, nature, poetry, ecology -

yet to set them all aside, and to be at peace, is higher than any of the rest -

peace is higher than any desire. . very true.  there are basically unlimited levels of awakening. .

light and more light - all beings are life -

am not seeking to persuade, merely expressing some info,

as whitman say, living in nature is the way to perfect health,

1 thing i kept in memory since early childhood -

we survived an ice age - what could be difficult?

nothing could be difficult after that, if we know.

it is possible to leave fear, worry, anxiety so far behind,

that they become literally nothing. . . this is the basic path.

and continue onward, there is peace further and further; it grows.

once life is attained, it is never forgotten - this is the basic fact.

peacefulness and light go hand in hand - and never minding, never concerning - simply be.

having seen once that i was pure light - i continued on in this way, and continue as well;

letting go, follow the stream to the source.

going into rest mode. . .
