Here are a few of my mother dragon fruit cacti that I got to root in about 2 weeks in my new raised bed. As always the soil and ferts are organic :P

Nice. Have you ever grown them to fruit? What zone are you in? Do they tolerate your winters?
-------------------- One day Alice came to a fork in the road and saw a Cheshire cat in a tree. 'Which road do I take?' she asked. 'Where do you want to go?' was his response. 'I don't know', Alice answered. 'Then', said the cat, 'it doesn't matter.'

Very nice! I have been trying to get a cutting and soon my friend is going send one my way. Any advice to a dragon fruit rookie?

Nah not yet, I'm fairly new at this whole Dragon Fruit thing. I'm in 7b and they are only suited for 10-11 so I'll have to move em into my greenhouse for the winter.

Hahah Like I said I'm a noob myself but I use organic ferts and soil and I soak em every day so they obviously like a ton of water if your soil drains well and the days are hot and sunny. They get about 11 out of the 13 hours of direct sunlight a day so they probably enjoy full sun since they're naturally climbers. To get em to root so quick I soaked em in about a 500ppm solution of indole butyric acid for 24 hours. I hear they grow so fast you can use em as grafting stock and they can even hold their own against the trichocereus genus.

Thanks for the info! I'll be soaking the one i get in naphthalene acetic acid at 500ppm and treat it like a trichocereus with the extra organic material and coco coir compared to my other xerophytes who prefer to be bone dry (opuntia).

I had two cuttings that did not root, but they were from a plant stressed at lowes. Ive got a really nice rooted hylo, very fat and full of water.

That sounds like a good plan, since I can vouch for IBA I'd suggest using both as a soaking agent if you can since many scholarly articles have shown stupendous results with that mixture. But yeah you're def on the right track my friend

The difference is crazy isn't it! I had a guy that was so dry he started to rot on one side and since I despise throwing plants away I throw him into one of my ground spots to either root (not likely so I thought) or be reabsorbed into the ground as nutrients for his brothers. I just checked on him and took this pick to find out that he put down roots and kicked the reaper in his sack lol. Life will find a way.
