I saw Bohemian Rhapsody, and it was amazing.  Best biopic I’ve seen, not that that’s my genre of choice-but it was just a great movie in general as well.  Wanted to watch it again as soon as I walked out of the theater.  Even for more serious queen fans it offered a really unique view of Freddie Mercury without being just a two hour concert.  9/10

A Star Is Born

I'd give it 8/10. I almost hesitate to say this, but for Lady Gaga to do such a good job on her first movie was quite impressive.

Raw

10/10

French film about a girl who gets infected with a disease that turned her into a cannibal.    Most insane movie I've seen in a while.

The clovehitch killer. Decent movie. I think they could have done a little more with such a great plot, but overall I give it a 7.5/10

As far as movies like that go, The King’s Speech was okay, I guess.  But I just checked what it was up against at the Oscars in 2011, and it beat out Inception, True Grit, and other similarly awesome movies.  Academy Awards makes a lot of shitty choices.

I have a Japanese friend, Hiromi aka Heather. Those are her two favorite movies. She said she brought her daughters to see A Star is Born several times, where they all cried. OK, IDK.

I saw Bohemian Rhapsody. It's good and the guy who plays Freddie does a nice job, but it's very historically inaccurate.  I saw Queen three times in the first half of their career, and they were one of the best live bands ever. I thought the second half of their career sucked, really bad.

Watched Night of the Iguana a couple of nights ago... odd movie.. the acting is just amazing though.. Richard Burton may just be the geatest actor ever. Plus.. Eva Gardner, she is my dream girl in that movie...

P.S. if you haven't seen the spy who came in from the cold... yeah.. Burton is just amazing.

The Assistant. Starring Julia Garner (Ruth from Ozark).

1/10.

I liked the concept going into it -- Garner plays your average office assistant who is surrounded by mostly men. Her environment is supposed to be considerably toxic with it starting from the top.

Because of Garner's work as Ruth I'm a big fan of hers. She's a terrific talent. But I swear, nothing happens in the movie. It may be the first time I've ever seen a full length movie where not a single notable thing happens. Sure there are undertones and hints of things happening -- but nothing actually happens. Nothing seen or confirmed for the viewer anyway. It was weird. I sat there watching it thinking this is maybe the slowest movie I've ever seen, but at some point there was going to be a payoff. But that payoff never came. The camera just follows her around doing office stuff. Printing papers, tidying up, ordering and serving lunch, taking phone calls. I felt like I was watching a movie that was the day in the life of an average office assistant.

Never really seen anything quite like it (in a bad way). Going off the summary before I watched it, it had a ton of potential. Especially with Garner. But the director met exactly 0% of that potential.
