Lemme think, I don't watch many movies... Last movie I watched was probably Anchor Man 2 a few weeks ago.
I'd give it an A-. It completely blew my expectations out of the water. Sure I wasn't expecting much but it was supprisingly good especially for how much time it had been and how bad most sequals are anymore.

1987 - "The Believers"
Not to be confused with 'the believer'
This is a classic, very well made and great acting, Martin Sheen is a golden actor. I don't think they can make these types of movies anymore, with the acting and the type cameras they used, it has an authentic nostalgia, a unique time piece.
10/10, very well done and very realistic as far as what is said and the rituals performed.
Someone did their homework in putting that movie together, really like it.

I enjoyed that movie when I watched it years ago as well. I've been thinking about re-watching it so perhaps it's time.

Finally got a good copy of Terminator (the new one). I'd save over all it's a solid 8. There are some things that could've been done to make it better.

Are you an on cinema at the cinema fan? It's literally the best thing ever.
The wolfpack was thelast one i saw. I rate it 5 bags of popcorn, and 3 9mm filmreels so you can film your own movies.
Its about a family of 7 brothers who lice pretty much their whole lives secluded in a nyc apartment. Their only window to society is the movies they watch and reenact. Oh and it's real too. It's a documentary, and holy fuck are they weird.

Yes I am, and I couldn't agree more, I've watched like every ep. And still check up frequently for newer ones, even tho I have no idea whether they will make more or not I'm staying optimistic about the whole thing.

And I agree, from what I read and heard about fracking, it is really fucking bad..
There's a movie I watched a while back tilted "the promised land", starring Matt Damon, it was about the whole fracking situation and I believe it had a very deep message regarding it, I recommend it to anyone interested.

Jesus this movie was so awful. I'm normally a big fan of possession/Satanic horror and this movie flopped in every way possible. Bad acting, horrid script; the attempts at character development were atrocious. The puppet looking "baby." I can't. The fact that a mailman who tears his own throat out in front of the main character's house and it is NEVER mentioned again when there are police GUARDING HER? Seriously? The ending was just ridiculous. The only reason we finished watching it was because it was "the movie of the night before bed" and we didn't have time to start another.

Agreed that it's not for everyone or even many. It was a very strong and unique effort for Mr. Gallo. I'm going to quote my review ov it from a little less than a year ago:
Quote:
I've been going through some weird stuff recently, one ov which is an obsession ov sorts with the former actor Jan-Michael Vincent. Buffalo 66 was one ov his last appearances in which he played a small 2 minute or so part. Thus i bought and watched this movie solely for the fact that he was in it, without any actual underlying interest in the plot prior to viewing.
I give it 8.5/10. It's a very unique flick for sure, with Vincent Gallo playing a very large part in its production. The film has excellent cinematography which captures the mood ov the flick and buffalo(or at least my perception ov it since i've never been) perfectly. Great soundtrack. Unique storyline.
I like movies wherein the plot revolves around a character who by most appearances is a total scumbag. I found no redeeming qualities to billy and hated him from the early gay bashing scene ov course. But the interest in this film was certainly piqued, aside from JMV that is, by the Laylah character. I believe that most would think her to be a fool and question the realism ov the plot on the basis that 99.9% ov people would have left this billy scumbag at the drop ov a hat. She plays a strong role as a very rare character type.
As crazy and off base as it may seem, i highly doubt that Vincent Gallo was'nt inspired by thelema in this flick. Besides the love under will angle ov the twist at the end Laylah makes for a great babalon, never mind the fact that Laylah Waddell was ov course one ov Crowley's lovers. To further a connection she taps to king crimson's moonchild(perfectly fitting in the scene though the tapping was obviously dubbed) in a scene, which was a novel by the beast. Have'nt checked if this connection has been noticed or mentioned before. If not, you heard it here first .
Billy's parents play good parts although the mom is a bit too exaggerated. Vincent Gallo does a great job at capturing a character tormented by the ills ov obsession, a dysfunctional family, and the absence ov love(or even fucking for that matter). JMV was his expected self post-accident era, but puts up a good performance playing one ov Billy's few loyal friends. I could see the ending as lending towards polarity in appreciation, although i came to find it very fitting after the fact. Strangely, as unique as this movie was, i did find it very predictable in the outcome.
Did i enjoy buffalo 66? Not really, it's not a movie that i could enjoy. However, it most certainly was a movie that had me intrigued and i thought it very good.
Last 3 movies I've seen were ted 2, behind the candelabra, and to catch a thief. I'm only going to comment on the last one though. I LOVE stuffed animals so i'm too biased to review ted 2. I loved it though; a good sequel. I was playing around with a lover for a large portion ov behind the candelabra so i cant review that either.
So To catch a thief? 6.5/10
I've seen this long ago and it did'nt appeal much this time around. The main irking is the same as the last movie i reviewed in this thread. That is, supporting character development was insufficient for a proper mystery which rendered the culprit completely obvious. Also, i like seeing actual capers occur in a caper flick. After the opening there were none and suspense surrounding the act was minimal and reserved for the end.
It was'nt too bad mind, just a bit ov a letdown. Hitchcock's worst effort i've seen to date IMO, although i do admire his unique slant on such a story. Could have just been richer in plot and more suspenseful. Cary Grant is always a charming treat and i really liked the mother character played by Jessie Landis however. Grace Kelly did well, but i do'nt think the character was likable as she came off as a brat.
As an aside, this movie features the classic scene where someone holds someone from falling with an arm's grasp only to pull them up in heroism. I know cary had to retain composure for gentlemanly sake, but he made it seem all too effortless. Could have acted jus a bit strained at least. I know because i've actually done this before(holding my grandfather from falling off the roof before my uncle and neighbors rushed over with a ladder). It was absolutely not easy to keep him from falling in that position and there's no way i could have pulled him up. Anyway, that was surely my movie moment for the day.
