Monotub contaminated or just dehydrated? Need experienced eyes
    #21847663 - 06/23/15 08:32 PM (8 years, 7 months ago)

Hi Everybody!

This is shameful to post, but that aside, curious to see what any experienced eyes may think.

A friend of mine was dabbling with some PE uncut and apparently may have neglected it a bit after the first flush for a week or three. (First flush was fine) My friend feels very ashamed for neglecting it that long, so Im fielding this for him to hide his embarrassment.

That said, he wants to know whether the whole tub is contaminated or if its salvageable? Under all the old fruits seem to be a whole new waive of pins, so he doesnt want to toss the whole tub of uncut if possible.

Some of his points of concern are the old, large, unpicked fruits are all almost extremely dark blue caps, almost all covered in white fuzz. not sure if that is mold or just mycelium growing all over the fruit and cap?
More of a concern is in the top left area, some of the fruits had red bumps on the heads of the fruits. Under those were some other fruits which had some off colored bumps too, which didnt look normal for the fruit.

Thoughts?
Is this thing contaminated hell spawn too far gone and should be tossed entirely?
Should he just remove and discard all the old, large blue fruits and hope that the new pins underneath are safe?
Or, do you think that those old dark blue fruits covered in white fuzz are still safe, just really old and dehydrated?(this is what he is hoping for, would like to save as many as possible)

Finally, those several fruits described in top left corner (some with red bumps, some with off colored bumps), if that is mold, if they were promptly removed, is rest of tub safe?

Thank you for your opinions on behalf of my neglectful friend.

"fuzzy feet" is a sign of poor air exchange.

pick mature fruits and FAN!

When you leave the fruits too long they eventually revert back to mycelium. That is what happened here. Next time don't leave em for three weeks.
