Slippery Jacks, Penrose State Forest

Hey everyone, just wondering if I can get a little bit of help. Picked some slippery jack mushrooms yesterday and have done a bit of research on how to prepare them i.e peel skin and bottom pores. I know these are slipperies but I'm a bit worried that they could be a little off/rotten as the pores/spongey part aren't the typical bright yellow i've seen in picture. Still yellow enough, isn't brown, gross smelling or anything either but as this is my first time picking and preparing these any advice would be great. Also, its a bit later in the season for them and as healthy as they look I'd love to know the tell-tale signs that suggest they aren't healthy for myself and others to consume.
Thanks.

When it doubt throw it out! That goes for any food, especially wild picked mushrooms. Id have an expert look at them or put the spores under a microscope before you eat anything from the wild for the first time.

Thanks for the reply. I'm aware of that overused phrase. Already ate a few that i knew where fine, simply not sure if they are starting to expire and am looking for examples of symptoms of expiration.
