I have like 30 cones from a very old tree. I intend to germinate them soon!

How did you stratify it?

I got some redwoods right now that are in the fridge. I red online they need to have a cold shock to get them to germinate.

I had a seedling for almost a year before it bit the dust. One of fifty seeds that germinated. Kind of a punch in the gut seeing it fail after all the time waiting during stratification. They are finicky when it comes to watering. It's very difficult to tell if you're watering too much or too little, add to that the fact that the plant will stay green for weeks even after it has already begun to die. Good luck.

It'll be a few years before they become too big for an apartment. I can't wait to start those coastal redwood seeds you sent me, I had to keep one cone intact because they were so cool looking but 3 cones put out more seeds than I expected

The cones look like some kind of ancient shit from a videogame or somethin! Lol

Just what you miht expect. How many did you get out of the cones you cracked open? Have any germinated?

I got 200-300 seeds they are very small in comparison to other sequoia seeds so who knows how many if any will germinate, I'm just glad I have to opportunity to try.  They've only been in the fridge for 2 days so 28 more until it's time for the seedmat for 30 after which I should have plants

Nice! I'm gonna buy an ounce of giant sequoia seeds in a week  or two so I'll have some of those up for trade.
You wouldn't happen to have any cones that are noticeably larger would you?
