string bending on acoustic guitar

I'm learning which notes can be bent for a bluesy sound but it seems like all the players that are in these tutorials use electric and the bends look incredibly larger than what I can bend.
Am I just new and not bending enough or is acoustic not meant for bending like an electric?

I bend strings on my acoustic all the time. It's not hard once you have callouses and are used to playing. I'd give it a couple weeks. Playing acoustic guitar is a BITCH though before your callouses develop; it was for me anyway, my fingers were shredded all the time

bending on electric is a lot easier but i prefer acoustic all i can say is when you bend try to use your second or third finger for the bend and try not to worry about breaking the string, give it a nice sweeping motion to get the full bend, I also downtuned my acoustic for looser strings an that helps a lot with bending as well, all though i play a funky tuning where you can lay a finger down and play a chord.

Get the lightest gauge strings possible. Something with an unwound 3d string. If it's still too hard and it's an option, then down tuning. And use bending technique where your other fingers help.

I use a lot of Ernie Ball strings, they have a range of strings from "super slinky" too "regular slinky" to not slinky at all.
The super/ extra slinky strings are very bendable for acoustic strings, their super slink electric strings... Super fucking bendable.
I use the titanium coated super slinky on my electric generally and they can last for months even with intense bending and daily use.
For acoustic I reccomend something like this for easy bends:

They have a wide range of strings though for basically any use you would need. Their strings start at 5-7$ a pack but the fancy ones can be 10$+

True, the general rule is to bend the strings away from the edge of the fretboard they are closest to, for the obvious reason that bending the other way can make the string go off the fretboard. It may not seem like a big deal with smaller bends on an acoustic, but if you ever get an electric and get all crazy bending 1+1/2, or 2 steps, or even 2+1/2 steps you'll see why even on the middle strings.
SRV used some pretty heavy strings and he does insane bends. The faces he made are not just showmanship! But even those strings are light compared to steel string acoustics.

Many years ago, I had an old Fender acoustic, I slapped Ernie Ball super slinky's (electric was all they had at that decade), lost a little volume but that fucker was a blues player, bends just like an electric.

I have a cheap Ibanez acoustic with Ernie balls on em, definitely very bluesy/ Americana sounding.

Best bender I ever saw was Roy Buchanan. He'd put the bottom string all the way up and it made sense.
