Mushroom growing from perlite?!

there is a pin growing from underneath one of my cakes and it looks like it's growing out of the perlite???. It is skinnier than the mushrooms growing from the cakes and I don't know how it's possible for a mushroom to grow from perlite. Is it edible? Should I remove it and dry it out or should I let it keep growing?

Mushrooms grow from mycelium. Anywhere mycelium can grow it can form a mushroom.

mycelium can grow anywhere suitable. if that means stretching out and wicking moisture from/making home on your perlite, than that is what it means.
no, you spores will not grow on perlite. there is no nutrition for them to get busy with.

It looks like myc from the cake made its way through one of the inoc holes on your lid, thus a mushroom is fruiting from under the lid giving the perception of growing off perlite.
But this is just speculation
