Magic mushroom i.d
    #21844792 - 06/23/15 05:35 AM (8 years, 7 months ago)

Hey guys first time picking! I was hoping for as much help as i can get, its all very unfamiliar to me haha i've tried to describe them the best i can, i hope its enough. Thanks for the help!

Habitat:
Royal park, Melbourne. Chip bark underneath some trees

Gills:
Medium to dark brown, free gills

Stem:
approx 5cm long, approx 1cm in diameter, sturdy and white with a smooth texture, hollow but only with a very thin opening

Cap:
3-5cm, dark brown in the smaller ones, pale brown in the larger ones, both get darker towards the edge of the cap, smooth rubbery texture, spherical (i guess), convex,

Spore print color:
Hard to tell, mainly brownish grey, possibly with a blueish hugh?..

Bruising:
The stems were already bruised all over with blueish green bruises.

Other information:
I thought they might have been a little old mainly because their caps seemed kind of wavy rather than a smooth circle, also the bruising. Does it matter if they are old?

Yep, they look like Psilocybe subaeruginosa to me

Wait for a TI to confirm your find. And welcome to The Shroomery! :psychsplit::sunny:

Sorry, I probably should have explained. TI means "Trusted Identifier" They will have a title under their avatar/name on the left that says TRUSTED IDENTIFIER and basically they have proven to know their shit when i comes to mushroom identification (and possibly have a mycology degree?) Basically, always wait for a TI to identify your mushrooms BEFORE you eat them to avoid poisoning etc

Well... It is never good practice to consume unidentified fungi (meaning not identified by a TI) due to the risk of poisoning. But in this case, I can quite confidently confirm that the mushrooms you have pictured are psychoactive and non toxic.
