Hi everyone. I'm new to Mushroom hunting and this is my first season. I have spend the last few months relentlessly studying the different spices of active mushrooms in New Zealand however when it comes to Identifying mushrooms i find, I struggle to determine which ones are look alike's or just plain wrong to the right ones. I'm new to this and all the tips I can get would be great. I am searching the web every night for info but help from the experienced hunters is what i can't find anywhere else other than here.
Anyway getting to the two mushrooms i found on my last walk. both were found in a cow paddock growing out of dung. the grey one looks to me to be similar to panaeolus cyanescens. and the other like a baby cube? ah i don't know , pictures from the web can only help so much.

thanks for the help everyone.
Also, on a separate topic. I've been looking in both forests and city garden wood chip areas for subs and I've been checking field's for liberty's. i literally can't find any. which is fine but i can seem to find every other type of mushroom going in the areas i look but no actives. do they not get on with other Mushie's ? am I missing something obvious here? I've been out looking for 7 hours a day all weekend long for the past month it literally hundreds of different locations some easy and some hard to get too. Another thing is, now that i'm always looking at the ground, I keep noticing scoop holes everywhere. i first though people where getting there before me but i see them in places that i know people don't go so, is there a magic mushie eating animal? and if so can i eat it to trip? joking about the last part lol
any ideas or suggestions?
Thanks again

Looks like Leratiomyces & Panaeolus papilionaceus. Don't eat them unless you are really bored.

Hey man, i am by no means an expert, though I do hunt often for pan cyans. I can't speak for the two smaller pins that you have, but the shroom in the third photo is most likely an inactive panaeolus species. I say this because there is no visible oxidation of psilocybin (blue bruising). In saying that, you are possibly on to something, I often find inactive pans among, and in close proximity to pan cyan's. The first two photos may be psilocybe cubensis pins,

But without proper identification, it would not be smart nor safe to consume them.

Thanks for the help. I didn't see any bruising on either so i didn't think they were. but its good to know what other mushrooms are around the ones i'm looking for.
