I need help guys...(saving genetics)*UPDATED...INFORMATIVE
    #21843151 - 06/22/15 08:05 PM (8 years, 7 months ago)

All right guys....I know many are gonna say I should have gotten agar.....but after searching high and low around my area....I couldn't find it and I couldn't wait for shipping....the mushroom was ready so...

I researched a brf paste tek on here and thought....what the hell.  I mixed brf and water until a toothpick left a small bump when pulled out.....added some food coloring to see the myc better....and pressure cooked in mini-round tupperwares for 45 min.  After cooled I dropped in a slice from the middle of a 45 gram pe mushroom.  I made a total of 5 "clones".  Now it's time to hit the next step before I lose these.  My question is.....do I take a slice of the cottony myc or do I cut the denser looking myc.  Also....of the 5 rounds....2 are purely cotton myc.....why am I getting different looking myc from the same mushroom?  Do I need to clean these up and transfer again or can I go straight to WBS?  Thanks a ton.....here's the best pic.

Whenever you're feeling stupid....just remember....there's still people out there who think the earth is 6000 years old and man rode dinosaurs.

How long did dinosaurs roam? The time gap between stegosaurus and t-rex is longer than the time gap between t-rex and man.

If geologic time was compressed into a year....man would be born on December 31st at 11:00 pm.

That would figure.  I wish I could take the lid off for a better pic.

I just wanted to update my situation.  Out of 5 "plates"....2 were transferrable....the one pictured was not one of them.  I very carefully cut 5 wedges that were placed into 5 quarts of wbs.  As of today....they have lept into the grains with force...nice and ropey.

I am very pleased at the way the brf paste worked for me in a pinch.  The myc stayed 2D and didn't grow into the brf.  Using the food coloring allowed for better visibility.

The whole process was very easy and I'm just letting folks know that when done right....brf paste can save the day.  Not counting chickens yet.....but if this all works out....I've saved a very potent pe strain that may put out some huge boomers.  Well....off to order some agar so I can do as the masters do next time around.
