worring about my friend
    #21842584 - 06/22/15 06:02 PM (8 years, 7 months ago)

Friend said he took 2.5g of shrooms for his first trip on any psychedelic, and on the come up he wished he didn't take it... So needless to say he spiralled into a bad trip,  which leads to my worry.  He says his anxiety increased to to the point where he though he was insane, and thought he would feel this way for the rest of his life, and thought he fucked his head up forever, to the point of considering suicide because of the mental torture, and thinking he would.be like this forever... He said only thing that stopped him was the realization that his fucked up consciousness would carry over to what ever was after death. Do you guys think it was a bad trip and that's it? Or does he have something mentally wrong with him? Reason why I'm asking is he said this was a year ago, and seems fine, and wants to trip agian with me.... And I would not want to deal with some shit.like that while tripping.  Thanks for your replies!

So basically do you think he has a mental problem from thinking he was insane and permanently insane for the rest of his.life?

Hey bro/sis, (guessing bro haha but that's probably because i'm a man)

couldn't say whether your friend is in a good place or not;

would have to meet him or hear him speak to have a better understanding;

if y'all do trip - what are his triggers?  that's an interesting question to ask. .

one of my friends had a rough time when he delved into nonsense for no reason - an ex girlfriend, back and forth stuff. .

so that's why i mentioned triggers.

about mental problems - everyone views the world in their own way, and there isn't an absolute right way or wrong way -

one thing i can say that's almost always true is saying someone has mental problems is not likely to ever help. . .

nothing lasts forever, everything will eventually pass. . . if he brings it up again - you might share this. .

while it's simple and fairly ubiquitious, it's also a very valuable truth, and can aid and comfort one a great deal sometimes. . . simply to say, this too shall pass.

for instance, one zen monk in vietnam, while the war was going on - when his brothers would ask him, for comfort, or ask him, what do we do, or other questions like that, what he would say was exactly this -- 'though it seems like this will never end, one day it will end.'

and i can imagine how that could be the very best, healing, comforting thing possible to say.

all the best.

but ya my experience with my friend tells me you're exactly right not to want to be around that kind of energy while you are tripping ( i wasn't at the time actually, we were hangin' out in nature, he was tripping but i wasn't )

actually honestly, all in all it's a very pleasant memory ( simply because of being out there w/ my bud )

so i'm glad to remember it again, heh.

one thing i also took from it is that it's best not to be on a phone while tripping.  just probably a good thing generally.

Thx for the replies, BTW he is out of it, it was a year ago,  actually he was out of the same day, once It wore off. Although he said thinking of mushrooms makes him kinda anxious. He seems normal... But likw I said he felt he was insane and lost his mind while on em.. Which isn't normal right?

no, not for a 2.5 g dose.  there's no telling why, although my initial thought is that it was probably because he had some strong attachment about it, in one way or another. . .  he thought trippin' meant you lose your mind, so that's what he went for,

someone i know well once took way too many shrooms and thought he was in a video game - w/out going into details, a bit harrowing.  but that was eating the whole bag.

but it's all a self-journey, isn't it?

for me personally, on my own is best.  i've never tripped with anyone else, and i've also never had a bad trip. .

i feel it would be a distraction, really.

just saw your second post - that is an encouraging sign for sure. .

i would say it's entirely up to you - i mean, personally, alone-trips are far. . . what's the word - revealing? discovering? something like that. .

but if you do - i mean i'm not knockin' it

one idea is to share w/ him that he can have an absolute great trip if he wants to, a relaxed and smoothe ride - you know?  help him know it's up to him. . just a thought but - tripping really seems to be like, we go where we want to. . . so, a little practice and what not (while sober) helps give one the tools. . .

then 1 other thing is, the calmer we are, the more we can concentrate and get done. ..

i found that applies in both daily life and tripping. . . for me at least, stillness was the access point.

Sounds just like he's going into these experiences the wrong way. If he's out of it that trip it's just what it seems like, a bad trip. He needs to figure out what he wants to learn from these experiences

I got a buddy who get kinda freaky when tripping. A little bit scary sometimes, anyhow he had only eaten them at that point just straight mushrooms. So I told him(lied basically) that if you cut it up and make it into a tea with honey it almost guarantees a great trip. The placebo effect basically and to this day hell tell you " i can only drink mushroom tea or else its bad". It worked and still is.

Alright then, picture this if you will:
10 to 2 AM, X, Yogi DMT, and a box of Krispy Kremes, in my "need to know" post, just outside of Area 51.
Contemplating the whole "chosen people" thing with just a flaming stealth banana split the sky like one would hope but never really expect to see in a place like this.
Cutting right angle donuts on a dime and stopping right at my Birkenstocks, and me yelping...
Holy fucking shit!

yeah, agreed w/ that ^^ rebelutions' point - it shouldn't be done arbitrarily or just to get kicks. . . it's a powerful tool, for exploring consciousness. . . and it does have meaning -

agreed also that it's just a bad trip - those are each unique, but have common elements

that's a really, really fascinating story Dense

and also a good thing you did for your friend, i'd say.

yah that's what i was getting at by saying that, things like that - to help him know he chooses it more or less, or to know a trip can be a smoothe relaxed good type of experience. .

it's actually fairly true; i mean human consciousness is pretty vast but it's pretty simple as well, and with trips - we open ourselves up to ourselves, more or less, and so forth - and having quite a few positive suggestions cannot be but beneficial, as well as doing practice of reflection and so forth. . . time spent in nature, that kind of thing -

in a trip we get to see some of the fluidity of it all, and if we're not prepared to accept that, well -

ya,

but it all resolves.

hehe

but ya, 'you can have a good trip if you want,' or variations upon that, would seem to be helpful or good idea if you decide to go ahead and trip w/ him. . .

or also, another random possibility - you could take turns, one person trip while the other just smokes; and vice versa. . .

endless possibilities.

Everyone should. You need to be in the right mindset and know what you're trying to learn from the experience. Every trip is a trip but some show you things you don't want to see and you have to be ready for that.

You've never gone into a trip trying to learn something or to help you figure out some problem in your life? LSD and psilocybin have a way of showing you a path during your trips imo

There must be something wrong with him if he thinks he'll live again when he dies :P

Plenty of people flip their shit on shroom trips because they don't know what they're doing and they get scared. Shrooms are not poisonous and no ones going to die. People have to have a general idea of what to expect before they trip on any substance, if they don't then it's no surprise if they freak out.

Mental preparation is key to a good trip.

Meh.... It's a good way to deal with a bad situation. Just like the time I saw and interacted with the dead while walking down a dark dirt road, high on massive amounts of lsd.

Realising it's just a drug can actually be very helpful in overcoming difficult trip situations. It ensures that there isn't any fear of personal defects, that it is the drugs making you this way, not you.

It's just a drug, it's just a drug, it's just a drug.

If that's how you see it that's all it's ever going to be

I totally agree. I've said that to myself a few times after things go bad. It always seems to help myself get grounded and helps to get things under control a bit more.

I took your post in the wrong context. I absolutely agree, deep breathing is also another way I've found myself out of very intense trips
