Just found out my Father in Law has Brain Cancer (squamous/head/neck) looking for help

Hi everyone, I'm looking for some recommendations on using medicinal mushrooms to treat Squamous cell carcinoma cancer that generates from the HPV virus.
Just some quick background, he was diagnosed 3 years ago with head and neck. Went through having it removed and radiating it, but it attached to the nerve pathways so the doctors warned of it spreading to other parts of the body.
Since then things have been good, but he has been getting CAT scans from the neck down since it usually spreads towards the lungs. Well, recently his face became paralyzed and he went to the doctor, got an MRI and found out that he has a tumor in his brain, most probably related to the original squamous cell HPV strain of cancer that attached to his nerve pathways.
So, as unfortunate as this news is, I do not have many more specifics on stage, exact location etc. But what I would like to do is offer something to help him. I have been spending a lot of time learning and researching medicinal mushrooms and have read of many success stories using them to treat tumors. RR, Paul Stamets etc. I know Paul believes Turkey Tail to be best, But I have read Chaga specifically is good for head and neck/brain because it contains betulin.
I guess my question is pretty basic though. There are 3 main questions. I'll list them below. I thank you for all of your insight in advance. Hopefully I'll have a success story when this is all over with.
1. I currently purchase extracts from Aloha.Where can I find the most POTENT extracts? 2. What combination and type of mushrooms would best target this specific case based on your knowledge/experience? 3. What kind of dosages would you recommend in a situation like this?

Sorry to hear about your father-in-laws situation. I really can't offer any medical advice. I'd guess the way to get the most potent extracts would be to make them yourself. I find tons of chaga growing on yellow birch. If you think it could help and want me to send you some, shoot me a PM.

Thanks to everyone for your replies.
Azur, a special thanks not just for linking me but for taking the time in that post. There is some heavily useful information in that thread.
As a result of reading through that I ordered Aloha Medicinals Critical Assist in bulk which is a combination of 6 different mushrooms. Any insight here is welcome.
Also, we will be making tea. So one more question I have is, when making this tea from the powdered aloha extracts, should I actually be boiling the powder in the tea?
I have read to do this, but the reason I'm asking if this is necessary is because if they are packaged in pills then they can obviously be ingested without the necessity for this. And also, the extracts come from mycelium, so I wonder if boiling the mycelium could damage it since it has many less cell walls?
Anyway, any and all input welcome and thank you again!

You don't have to boil aloha's powder. It has already been heat treated during the manufacturing process. This heat treatment is actually a good thing, because the process makes the material easier to digest. I just mix my powders into hot water to make the tea. Many of the powders aren't water soluble entirely so you end up with some sediment, make sure to drink all of that down. It's all important and good for you.
The critical assist is the best you can give him. Take the maximum dose. It's expensive, but life is worth it.
I suggest also getting him Chaga and Lion's mane, which aren't included in the Immune Assist CC formula. I'd toss 2 grams each of those daily on top of what he's taking.
It's hard to take too much of medicinal mushrooms. They're a medicine yes, but they're also a functional food.
I suggest getting him on a k2 and d3 regimen as well.
good source for k2: http://www.amazon.com/Jarrow-Formulas-MK-7-mcg-Count/dp/B0013OVVFA/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1435017680&sr=8-4&keywords=k2
Just make sure the d is d3 form. 5000 IUs daily.
Take the d3 and k2 once a day with a form of dietary calcium, like milk or yogurt or cheese. Also make sure to give him his medicinal mushrooms with a form of vitamin C. Fresh juiced organic lemon is a great source(rind and all). The acids/vit c help increase absorption of the beta glucans.
Medicinal mushrooms will be a huge help in his fight, but diet plays a large role as well. I'm more than happy to do my best giving some advice.
I'm not a Dr. but I'll give my 2 cents whenever you need it. rad/chemo are amazing treatments, but western medicine has much to learn still from natural remedies that may actually enhance our western practices, and protect us from their detrimental effects.
I'm at your service.

I can't thank you enough for taking the time to share your knowledge with me. This is a tough process but having this information grants some hope. So, again, I thank you.
I am on a plane now about to take off so will take more time to address some of your comments specifically when I arrive at my hotel. Possibly tomorrow. May be a late night.
I do have one more...rather odd, question. I have been talking to him about having to drink 3 or 4 cups of tea every day and he is not terribly excited about that. He is of course willing, but he had an idea that of course would not be recommended but I wonder about the community's thoughts on its potential effectiveness...
I brew beer. He drinks a lot of beer. The reality is, of course he shouldn't be drinking right now, but I know him, and he won't stop. He isn't out of control, he just likes his beer. Maybe 1 or 2 a day. Nothing absurd.
But, I'm wondering if I brew a 5 gallon batch with a pounds worth of critical response from AM, it will bring each beer to about 9 grams each. So, 2 beers a day should do the trick.
My question is, does the alcohol have any kind of contraindications with the medicinal mushrooms? I will most likely brew a very low alcohol beer, 2 or 3 % , but would this method be as effective as tea?
I presume the most effective way to do this would be to make a tincture instead of throw the powder in the beer and then add it prior to bottling.
But I thought it was a fascinating suggestion. Clearly nobody would recommend drinking beer with a brain tumor, but it certainly would be a lot easier (for some) to ingest this on a regular basis and take a hole lot less preperation.
Anyway, just throwing that out there. I'm open to any and all input and again thank you so much for your responses so far. It has already been potentially life changing as we have ordered Chaga and the immune support in bulk from aloha medicinals.

Off topic, but an old boss of mine back in the day brewed beer. He put 6 dried ounces of cubes in 5 gallons of beer. One 22 ounce beer made you very, very happy. I think it would work KindofBlue

Funny you mention that. This was a focus of mine in college. Of course when I say "of mine" I am referring to my friend who we assigned the nickname "of mine" to. 'Twas a fantastic past time.
I didn't even relate it to that but you're right, it absolutely worked.

The issue I see with brewing the aloha powder into beer is the sediment straining process.
I can't stress enough how important it is to get the entire product, and not just the water soluble components.
Not to be stern or harsh, but if he can't handle drinking 3 or 4 cups of tea to extend and maybe save his life, he's being a dick head.
He's not a child, he doesn't need his medicine hidden in his favorite food.
I've dealt with stubborn folks in my family with health issues before too, so I can understand the frustrations you'll be dealing with.
