Black discolouration on stems and cakes...

Hi everyone,
This is a great forum. I've learned a lot from all the questions and advice given through here, but I am still, nonetheless, a newbie and this is my first attempt.
I bought one pre-sterlised BRF cake to begin, then made my own a week later, but mistakenly used WHITE rice flour (didnt read the label properly). I now have three cakes growing side by side and there are definitely differences in the shrooms growing on them (BRF = flatter cake, better shrooms).
My main question is about this dark blue/black that colouration that has hit part of the mycelium cake and then partly the stems of the shrooms. I really dont think its mold (no bad smell, doesnt wipe off on contact with kitchen towel). I've harvested them all, as I'm going to a music festival this weekend and hope to share these small (but probably potent) guys with a friend after drying with desiccant. Do you think they are okay, or should I avoid?
Note: I have not handled these cakes at all, so I don't expect it to be bruising. All I've done is move the chamber once to the other side of the room
Thanks

It's bruising. Usually when you see it at the base of the stem like that it's because the cake is getting dehydrated.
Be sure to fan dry them for a good 48 before attempting to desiccant dry. Also make sure your desiccant has been dried if it's not straight out of the package.

Thanks Kizzle for the reply.
This amount of mushrooms gave 4 friends a mild-moderate trip, which was amazing. There was nothing wrong with them for human consumption.
I think the blackness was one of two things:
Poor fresh air exchange or a contamination in the humidifying water pool that the mushrooms were having to defend against. I've now added some peroxide to prevent that from happening again. Either way, its sorted now and the next batch was much more impressive.
