i was talking to one of my very good freinds today in an IM and she brought up a question that she wanted me too ask here. Are shrooms excreted in breast milk after ingesting them? if so how long would it not be safe to breast feed a baby?

well i would suppose if it is secreted in urine then it would be transmitted in breast milk i know many prescription drugs can be found in breast mild i would not risk it.

I would assume so, but I have not read any literature that indicates one way or another. Err on the side of safty in this case.

how long do you think one should wait? she still has to wait until december to have the baby and was planning on using formula until it would be safe. plus she is going to have her mom watch the baby the night she does them. i told her i would ask here.

well the tolerance in your body lasts about a week so i would guess the same about then. 1 week might be good but i would be safe and go with 2

TIME TO BUMP.....
It's December guys and i haven't found the full answer to this yet. We now need to know how long wait until resuming breast feeding. The lady in question is my sister-in-law and i love her like... well my sister. Her due date is in 15 days, which means she will be popping me a new nephew in the next week or so. (yes i know a week isn't 15 days, but how the hell is a DR. going to tell you the exact date?)
She has had a dose of mushies (3.75 grams to be exact) very carefully packaged and sealed in her fridge since i asked this question.
I have learned that, yes indeed, shroom by-products are indeed excreted in breast milk. But i still need to know if it could cause changes in the highly sensitive developing newborn's brain.
She really wants to take the mushies but has every intention of keeping her baby safe, like any good mother would.
I am anxiously awaiting the day that i can gently guide one of my best friends in the world through a very thoughtful and fun journey through her mind.
So, in conclusion, this is a very heart felt bump.

I don't know for sure how long but i think till the milk containing the stuff is replenished i suppose. It will get in the milk for sure. Maybe its wise if she first saved some milk so she can use that for a couple of days.
Mostly you piss out all alkaloids within 78 hours (if your not a daily or weekly user that is than they will build up and take longer to excreet).

I posted a response to this before the server change and it disappeared.
A mother can milk her breasts and bottle the milk for use hile being able to enjoy the mushrooms which are out of your system witin 24-36 hours after ingestion.
My wife and I use to do thata and leave the kids with a baby sitter. That way she can enjoy the mushroom experience and still take good care of her children with no problems.

I don't know if psilocin is excreted in breast milk or how long it would be there if it indeed was in there, but I can suggest that if she stops breastfeeding for any length of time, even a couple days her supply could easily dry out and she wouldn't be able to breastfeed her infant at all. It's something to consider at least. I suppose this could be helped by using a breast pump during the time the baby is on formula. If it were me and I was anything less than severely requiring a trip I'd just hold off for 2 or 3 months longer until the baby is more developed and has managed to get the benefits of a couple months of steady breastfeeding.
I would be careful not to do anything that could dry up the supply, since breastmilk is a far superior food than formula it's something to be very careful about. If she's held off for 9 months during pregnancy what's another 2 or 3? Why not make it one full year and partake on the year anniversary of conception? That might be interesting.

I doubt that the small amounts of psilocin/by-products would harm the baby since a burst of DMT is released 49 days after conception (pineal gland is activated), and DMT and it's by-products would be in the baby's own bloodstream anyway.

Its probably better to just wait till she is no longer breast feeding to take any nonessential drugs.

hahaha i was gonna say that. thanks for all the replies. she hasn't had the baby yet.
i told her she should ask her doctor about it. but she says she didn't want to ask something like that. even though she has asked her doctor about smoking pot. she said asking about mushrooms is different.
i have done quite a few searches on this through google, but i dont think this is something that has been researched very much. i dont even know if this question can be answered with any certai nty at this time.
