so i hope some of the more experienced cacti growers here could give me some info on how to expand my garden. so i currently am growing two seedlings and a tip i recently took from a cutting i ordered. i ordered a seedling quite a while ago and it was very small and had a spot on it that looked like a horrible bite was taken from it or rot so i cut the top inch off and sat it in a pot not expecting it to grow but it grew a pup that is now approxamatley 6in and im wondering if i should cut it and re plant the top and hope for more pups? also im not sure that my new tip i took from a cutting is rooting well, my seedlings are doing fine in dirt from my yard but should i get something special for my new tip?

basically you are asking if it's worth to cut and clone , to improve production right? I'd say no. this is true when you do have seedling and not adult plants. Cutting should be done on big plants with decent girth. the bigger the cutting, the more chanches it has to survive and re root. Not that rooting is difficult, but it can be tricky on small and thin cuttings. Also cuttings are better taken on early spring. Cutting now you, just avoid summer's growt, and it is something you don't want to.
Pics could be helpful.

okay and yes i was wondering if i would be better off to cut the top off because its fairly large compared to the small one inch tip that its growing from and i was curious if at its size i should had re planted the top and hoped for new pups from the bottom and some saftey glasses for size comparison. and i tried to get the tip it was growing from but it was too small to really get a good pic

yeah, it'a a little one, i wouldn't think of cutting and clonating for now, maybe next season By the way, seems a bit etiolated, you should move it to a brighter place.
