Mushies growing in jar before fully colonized
    #21833160 - 06/20/15 05:29 PM (8 years, 7 months ago)

As title states I have 1 jar of 6 that has started producing before fully colonized. What do I need to do?

Albumn post on imgur:

The first two pics are from 17 June (3 days ago) and the last 3 are current so you can see the growth in the jar in that short amount of time.

Thanks for any help.

It's a possible sign of contamination

it must be deep inside the substrate because I don't see any signs of contamination yet.

Sometimes you won't see it for a while. The substrate that isnt colonized is contaminated The myc went into oh shit mode and is fruiting before the contam takes over.

OK so now what?

Dunk and roll now, wait and give it time, dunk and throw into potting soil and see if it can out grow the contam?

Edit:
What about having the jars receive too much indirect sunlight? I had the jars on top of my kitchen cabinets and would put a towel over top to cover all the jars and sometimes I would check on them and not recover them. Just a thought.

I would toss it. Or at least put it outside in a shaded area if you want to try and salvage a few fruits.

You could possibly build a small fc for it and isolate it away from the rest if you dont want to toss it.

Well I am not tossing it yet. I'll ride it out and use it as an learning experience. I am giving it 5 more days to see if the 'hole' closes up and it shows progression toward being fully colonized. If not I am planting it in growing soil and let mother earth see what she can do with it.
