That's possible, we'll just have to wait for more information.
Quote:
isnt removing it from the state house and other government lands in fact a ban?
No. Banning it would be a ban.
Quote:
I mean it's flown for decades, more than a century in some cases but now it's being removed to never be flown again in those locations. are you telling me that it's not a ban when these locations are now told they're banned from flying that flag? can I carry my confederate flag (I dont actually own a confederate or an american flag) to these state or federal lands?
As a private citizen you can carry whatever flag you like wherever you like. You can go wave the ISIS flag in front of Mt. Rushmore for all I care. This is America after all. We have the freedom of speech. But you can not extend that same unabridged freedom to public institutions. An elementary school can not fly the ISIS flag. You can, but the school can't. That is not a ban. If it were banned you could not fly your flag anywhere. The difference is that the government is supposed to represent everyone so they should not use tax payer money to fly symbols that offend large portions of the population.
Quote:
no one has raised a stink about it until recently
People have been complaining about confederate flags on public land for a long time.
Quote:
maybe these people should just get their heads out of their asses and realize that there's some fucking hurtful things in the world and removing flags wont stop murders, wont change history and it clearly wont ease the butthurt
Actually I disagree. When you glamorize a racist history you encourage violent racist behavior. One step we need to take in order to move past racism in this country is to end the glamorization of the confederacy.
Quote:
dont you think it's time we removed the US flag as well since it symbolizes the aggression, oppression and hatred of america. it stands for murder, genocide and slavery. it is in fact the battle flag of the united states and as we all know, the US loves to murder innocent brown people
Like I said before the US flag represents many bad things, but many good things as well. The confederate flag has nothing good to hang it's hat on. Treason, Slavery, and disrespect for the democratic process, that is all it stands for.

Nice try at being asante's apologist but it doesn't work. He said usa was dutch, he did not say there were dutch people here or influences, which anyone would agree, he said usa was dutch.
We have lots of American indian influence, negro, oriental, south American, European, brittish, and so on. Lots of towns have indian names, are we an indian nation then?

"people to know that it is the murderers and arsonists who's actions truly represent the heritage of the confederacy"
So with that line of reasoning, the black people that rioted in Ferguson and Baltimore represent the blacks who peacefully fought for civil rights, it makes no sense.
It's not what I think, it's what the confederates thought. They said time and time again that they were seceding to protect slavery. There is a big difference between correcting revisionist history and not believing in freedom. You are free to think that flag represents states rights, or unicorn farts, whatever, you are wrong. It represents slavery. More people need to understand this because it's important that we as a society understand our history.
I do see the protests in Ferguson and Baltimore and everywhere as a direct continuation of the civil rights movement. Both then and now there were both peaceful and violent protests/riots.
"It represents slavery."
To some people it does, for many it represents much more.
"I do see the protests in Ferguson and Baltimore and everywhere as a direct continuation of the civil rights movement"
I don't, Ferguson protesters supported a thug that would have been charged with attempted murder if he wasn't dead, and the Baltimore community showed the world how stupid they can be by looting and destroying their own city. If you want to call that type of animalistic behavior part of the "civil rights movement" I feel sorry for it.

No.
so if the government is prohibited from doing something then surely it is banned from doing some certain thing, isnt that what this means? that's what the dictionary says it is
Ban
verb (used with object), banned, banning. 1. to prohibit, forbid, or bar; interdict: to ban nuclear weapons; The dictator banned all newspapers and books that criticized his regime.
2. Archaic. to pronounce an ecclesiastical curse upon. to curse; execrate.
noun 3. the act of prohibiting by law; interdiction. 4. informal denunciation or prohibition, as by public opinion: society's ban on racial discrimination.

does the government represent everyone?
I'm offended by the ban on this flag at government buildings, many others are as well, in fact a large portion of the population in these states are offended by this flag ban. why the fuck isnt this government representing me, why isnt the government representing the rest of the people that want this ban lifted
is the government representing you? surely you'd like to see psychedelics and marijuana legalized so you arent facing criminal charges for something that shouldnt even be a minor offense, how exactly is the government representing you?

Much as I hate to admit it, but pris is right here.
Minority rights are always paramount when the left likes the minority. But when a minority gets trampled on that the left does not like, its different, isn't it?

i kind of like it... so i dont, you really are a big idiot you know that right? when its used as a historic battle flag i got no beef with it. when its used as a racist statement, i roll my eyes. people are people skin color is the least important factor.
i mean you CONSTANTLY make horribly WRONG assumptions of people while having your head up your ass.
i really dont have a problem with you, but you are so brainwashed that it hard to have a real conversation with you because you cant see anything but black and white.
