Texas has written in its state Constitution the right to legally secede from the union...

Yeah I think the biggest mistake the North made in the Civil war was allowing Texas back in.

Perhaps. But Texas is probably one of the only states who's econonomy could survive on its own. I'm not saying we would ever secede, but if we did it'd be one hell of a fight.

yeah, Texas, California, New York, and maybe Florida have the economies to secede, but don't kid yourself, Texas wouldn't put up much of a fight. It's not like you have your own standing army. Texans could maybe keep up an insurgency while under occupation for awhile, but more than likely would eventually capitualate, since there would be no real benefit to the citizens in a prolonged guerrilla action

No need to fight, simply declare independence and tell the feds to fuck off. The mistake the confederates made was going to war.

the also did it for polio because some of the routes of transmission were thought to be insect bites such as bedbugs and mosquitoes because they found that malaria and yellow fever could be spread that way

to be fair, there was plenty of aggression from the north in that war. Sherman's March to the Sea was a brilliant example of strategic maneuvre and yielded brilliant results leading to the capitulation of the South. even before Appomattox, the southern army was deserting in droves. after all, shermans raiders were pillaging their homes(you know, where their wives and children are) Unfortunately for the south, sherman's concept of total war, led him to destroy much of the southern infrastructure especially railway lines. In order for his plan to work, he had to break away from his own railways(his line of supply)and disperse a portion of his army as a mobile raiding force who gathered supplies from the locals within a radius of his march. This caused massive hardship for many people whose only crime was living in the confederacy, and naturally, since famine strikes soldier and infant alike, some hard feelings were harbored. The south still has not completely recovered from that war, which i think is what led to a widespread sort of spiteful racism in the south. Its as if the confederates realized they were bested in war, and thus were forced to obey the letter of the law(no more slaves), but that didn't mean they had to obey the spirit of it(treat black people like people). That defiance was passed down through a heritage of honoring the confederate flag and those who fought under it.

I'm Mexican but I like the flag, what would America be without these confederates? Just leave them be it's part of history so it's pretty chill.

probably better off. i mean, the civil war was one of the bloodiest in recorded history. it literally pitted brother against brother. it completely destroyed the infrastructure of a huge region of the country(and they still haven't fully recovered). What if the south had played ball by the rules they agreed to in the first place? no civil war. no enmity between north and south that persists to this day. possibly a quicker move towards normalization of treatment to blacks.(maybe a slower one in the north? but faster in the south? i dunno, i'm just conjecturing at this point) i still stand by my first point though, as a nation we would almost certainly have been better off without the confederacy having ever existed.

Nope thats where you err, the video said Polio. Its still used against malaria in the tropics but they'll find something better I'm sure.
America had a president with polio at the time DDT became popular so that no doubt helped the campaign along.
