So how is that any Different than how the Irish the Dagos the Hunkies the Polacks and the Jews were treated? I'm gonna take this risk of being banned on this one blacks are afforded more oportunity than any other race in America and still they can't get their downtroden people to rise above adversity and stop acting like Niggers. There I said it and I feel 0% shame for doing so.

Many blacks do very well in the US, they don't ask for special treatment and they don't blame others for a misfortune, they just work hard and succeed.
They don't worry about events that took place 200 years ago, like all successful people they live and focus on the present and future, blaming poor behavior on historical events from long ago is nothing more than a recipe for complete failure.

Not true Blacks,Women and especially Minority women get preferential treatment in awarding Govt contracts. To make a long story short a black ex NFL player bid a state contract against my family and the company was held under the Puerto Rican wifes name was awarded the contract even though our bid was far under theirs. You can't tell me that any minority does not get preferential treatment.

i'm going to be called a racist for this, but i don't think it is right to give anyone with preferential treatment based on race. What if i want a kickback job at the DMV or the Post Office? Why should affirmative action work against me? Maybe i'm totally off base here, but it really does feel like the world is geared against me. As a "privileged" white male, i find privilege elusive. That's just how it seems from my shoes. like i said, maybe i'm totally off base.
maybe it was like this once

but i've never seen it

Is it racist if I point out that I don't receive any sort of accommodation or special treatment as a single white male? Quite the opposite.
Granted... it's pretty awesome.

I had ancestors on both sides of the Civil war. My mom's side is a quite old southern family who became very wealthy on the backs of slave around Memphis way. But you know, the battle flag represents to me a tragic horrendous war and indeed does belong in a museum. Having said that, individuals should be free to display it as they wish.

You do realize that helium is not destroyed when it is put in a balloon and goes back into the atmosphere from which we can extract it again, right?
we dont extract helium from the air, it's extracted via decomposition of rocks or from natual gas wells, it's about 10,000c more expensive to pull it from the air

to be honest, at this point in the thread, I'm finding discussion regarding helium sourcing way more interesting than debating whether it's racist to fly a racist banner.
Do go on, pris. I seem to remember something from my classes that we're going to be running out of geologically sourced helium sometime soon, we're sucking it all up out of the ground? Fun fact, helium is created through alpha decay, where the nucleus of a radioactive isotope such as plutonium-239 loses two protons and two neutrons, giving helium, lead, and radiation burns on contact.

The only source of helium on earth is from the decay of radioactive elements. Because it is much lighter than oxygen and nitrogen, helium gas that makes it to the surface and is not contained floats to the top of the atmosphere and is blown off into space by solar wind. There is almost no free helium in the atmosphere. Probably thinking of Argon.
Because helium is a non reactive element, it cannot be fixed as part of a compound that is more earthbound - hydrogen is less dense than helium but because it readily forms compounds like water, we don't lose much to space.

I wanna talk some more about alpha decay. Does the helium nucleus just take its electrons from the atom it splits off from?
