4 cakes lost (3 to trich, 1 to cobweb, all because of poor inoculation technique). 5 jars left with strong growth, with 5 more that just started showing growth (6 days in). I do have questionable spots on 2 other cakes- might be trich... But they are in weird places- which I would assume would mean they weren't sterilized properly (which I've never had a problem with before).
I'd like your take: First three strong growth, last two?

Yea with these above normal temp and constant rain over most of the USA the contam rates have seemed to be skyrocketing....

My real question is on these new contam' jars is how could they have not been sterile when the other 5 in th PC were?

The syringe was contaminated, would be my next logical guess.

The contam points are not in line with the injection ports, in fact they are almost dead centre inbetween them, if you look at the last two pictures- the mycelium is growing out towards the spots- which in my mind cancels out contam in the syringe- as well as the fact others noc'd by the same syringe appear to be doing fine. hence my confusion. I'd like to know what I did wrong so I don't repeat it in the future.

I agree with others. Sounds like syringe may have been contaminated. Assuming everything else was done right.
As a matter of fact I started 10 brf just to get some fruits and prints.
Spore load here and temps in 90's, rain everyday, trich is off the charts.
Starting to piss me off. It must be in the air big time because I can do a an agar transfer to grains and in a few days trich out or other contams.
It must be the weather because I didn't have these problems when it was cooler and drier out.

Yeah the trich has been terrible- I've lost 11 to it (almost all of which I believe was preventable with better inoculation technique- so I'm going to turn up the flame a little on my PC and use better techniques. I also re read everything and realized I forgot to wipe down the jar where the dry verm layer goes.
