Blood pressure problems.

I've been having extremely vivid, horrifying nightmares....like I wake up practically convulsing and crying, numb toes and arms, sweating profusely, sometimes shrieking.
I told my doctor about this, because I am literally never falling into REM sleep, I just drift until the nightmares start and I am paralyzed. They all are filled with music mixed with other music, full verbalization with the people in it, horrifying events, accusations towards me that aren't true, huge pillar's I'm trapped in with tons of concrete, or falling off mountain dreams. I almost always die, or am beaten to a living pulp to music I enjoy.
It's caused me to stop listening to music pretty much, and forcing myself to try to sleep whenever possible to try and relax, but I can't.
My doctor said it's blood pressure issues, and gave me "Minipress" to I think lower it? But I hadn't started taking it yet because I was apprehensive about fucking with my heart and blood anymore then I already have with drugs and alcohol.
Last time I went in to get my blood pressure taken it was really weird for me. Like 95/55, usually it's around 100-110/75-90.
Does anyone else take blood pressure medication? It seems my blood pressure is already low enough? I want to stop drinking coffee and smoking cigarettes before I start taking meds but I'm super weak mentally right now, and can barely function.
Tips advice anything. I know I should be exercising more, but that just makes the paralysis worse and I get trapped in these hellacious nightmares even deeper. Like I can honestly feel fear, anguish, pain, and see full colors I have never seen before in these dreams. Sometimes when people wake me up, I shoot up in straight night terrors shrieking and almost faint right when I wake up. I haven't been socializing because of this, and I quit comedy because of this ( I have done 2 shows in the last 4 months which blows ).

The more I read into minipress the more I think I will give it a shot. It says it can help with bladder issues on top of night terrors and anxiety. I've been having these issues since I can remember. 5 years old dreaming about huge octopi raping me while killing my friends and family.
More recently it has become people I know tying me up and torturing me, locking me up, using music I enjoy to torment me. It's like slipping into a place worse then guantanamo bay every time I close my eyes. I wake up with my heart RACING and my dick rock hard drenched in sweat.....I hyperventilate and shake....my dogs crawl up to me and cuddle and after about 10-20 minutes I am able to at least get out of bed.

I'm not sure how helpful the drug is going to be. You might want to talk to a psychologist/psychiatrist first. The nightmares sound like they suck, and if this helps it might be an okay short term solution, but in the long term you have to figure out how to manage your stress better and/or how to reduce it (easier said than done). A psychologist might have some tips for you.

Been seeing one for years and years. My current one just got mouth cancer, ironically, so I am searching for a new one.
