Vehicle search at Bonnaroo 2015 2

So me and three of my other friends this year happened to be one of those lucky vehicles that got to be searched by police upon entry this year at Roo. Three out of four of us happened to have weed on us, but we were prepared. We all had our stash secured well on our persons and they searched our vehicle well. I can't tell you how hard we were cheesing after it was over because those fucks got nothing from us. The worst part is now Coffee County has a new judge and gone are the days where they just confiscated your stuff and gave you a fine. Now if you're caught you have to do the whole nine yards and go through the system. I had a friend get caught with LSD a couple years ago and got off scott free except for a $2400 fine he had to pay which is lucky for him. I love Roo, but it gets worse every year. This year was perhaps one of the worst police presences I've ever seen. Sheriffs were even riding down the rows at times by campsites when I had never seen that before. This is the last time I ever bring weed in, but keeping green on your actual person is the best way to avoid getting caught. Everyone getting popped there was because they had it somewhere in the vehicle.

Was it just a random search or why exactly were you singled out of the crowd? It's really lame that they cracked down at a festival. If it wasn't for drugs, I wouldn't even wanna go to one.
And how the fudge did your friend get caught with acid? It has to be the easiest drug to conceal.
How times have changed..

Bonnaroo has sucked for a while now.
Actually, it seems like it's sucked so long it might really have always sucked.

Roo was awesome as fuck in '02 and '03... after that.. shit went downhill in a hurry. '05 was the last year I went. And Dave Matthew's Band were headlining and there were people getting popped left and right coming and leaving and it was turning into a yuppie brofest. That was enough for me. Can't even really imagine how bad it is 10 years later. Place is a cop magnet.

tHis happened to me in my area for an epic festival called Where Life Begins.
Every year, for 3 years it got worst and worst, infested with cops. On the third year, the cops "closed" the road to the festival land/property. So sad.
I see this a lot.
Good thinking OP. I was gunna guess u hid your stash in your engine comparment somewhere
I think the best place to put them is under your nutz (if you have the nutz to tuck it under)

What is the probable cause to search your car? I don't get why people just blindly comply with this shit.

I was thinking the same thing. Closest I can guess is it is on private property and they have some local ordinance that they have to let cops search concert goers in order to obtain permits for the show. If that's the case the promoters are more guilty of violating rights than the cops are.

going to a festival is not a right. if you wanna go inside the festival then yiu have to follow their rules
buying a ticket if essentially signing a contract saying you will follow their rules or be subject to ejection
so basically if you dont want you car searched then you can leave. people usually wanna go inside so they follow the festivals rules

I've been searched going into concerts before and sports games but always by private security and yeah it does suck so I always make a scene being real loud saying stupid shit like stop that it tickles and laugh like a school girl the security always just pass me through and are like get the fuck outa here and send me on my way. Homophobia can be a powerful weapon.

I don't think they have probable cause. The last year I went.. (10 fucking years ago)... they had troopers lined up ALL over the side of interstate coming into Roo. You could not go to Roo without passing at least like 50 cops. They were just pulling people over left and fucking right and searching their cars. They will make up probable cause. Most people are out of state so they don't have the means to fight it. They count on that. They just target people who look like they are going to the fest. Anyone with a bunch of camping gear in the back they will profile and pull over for some bullshit.
They would also have cops lined up outside to catch people leaving. It was a total clusterfuck... I stopped going to that fest after it became a fucking cop magnet... they probably make 90% of their income for the year from people going to that fest.
The bonnaroo security would search you when you came in, but they didn't do a very thorough search. It was the cops outside the festival that would fuck everyone over.
Now they have fucking cops INSIDE the festival, roaming by people's tents and shit. Fuck. That. Shit.

Any large gathering that becomes popular loses its appeal to the original attendees. This is just a fact of these types of things. Also a fact, from the moment someone talks about how awesome the drugs were at this type of event, the more of the "wrong" type of people attend and the more likely law enforcement presence will increase. It also increases the cost of attendance because of the liability to the show producers if someone were to die.
Find a group of friends, find a place to camp. Share stories and drugs and everyone will have everyone else's back.

Bonnaroo is a private event on private property, you can refuse a search but they can refuse you admittance to the venue and do not have to refund your ticket price

This is why I avoid big festivals like the plague. I much prefer the smaller festies. The vibe is so much better and you don't have the militarized police brigade pouncing on good people and trying to wring out your pockets to get "their share".

I would not let the cops search even if I had nothing on me. I will say no and let them try to lie their way out of it. Too many people are wimps and just cave in, stand up for your rights.
I've been searched going into a concert before but it was a private employee, a girl luckily and I didn't mind. Cops are a different animal and the concert can not give them permission to search you, pris and others are wrong about that. No one has said the concert people make you let the cops search before you can get in, someone made that up. It was cops by the side of the road bullying people on their way.
I will just say no, go ahead and get your warrant, if they threaten to trash the car thoroughly, which is their usual extortion tactic, I say I will put in a claim with the local judiciary for damages with photos taken. I realize they can simply shoot you and make up a story but with witnesses all around and no excuses, they would have to be insane to do anything like that. They can arrest you on false charges and you can sue them.
Its a much bigger hassle for them than for you, anyone who calmly stands up for their rights gets a grudging bit of respect from the pigs and normally goes right on in with no search. Know your rights, proclaim them and do not back down.

its funny watching people act like they can do whatever they want at a festival
a festival is not a right, its a privelage...you have to follow their rules
if you dont like them, youre free to leave...but youre not getting inside of you try to act like you know your rights (which some people clearly dont)
