If you feel youre not free here in this country please reply and tell us all which country is so much more free than america! and then move there and stop your bitching. oh you cant smoke ciggs and get cancer unless youre 21 and over omg its such a horrible law. Adults dont want there stupid ass kids getting addicted to ciggs at a young age you morons. I think acid and shrooms should be 18 or older but not ciggs or alcohol, they should stay 21 not that people younger cant still get the stuff but it does make it harder.
Canada, Ireland, New Zealand. All places id rather live than this disgusting, corrupt, greedy piece of shit we call a government here. Nice job making a account to call people on here morons, anyone who thinks something like this could actually change anything about the age at which kids start smoking is a moron. I bet 80 percent of the kids that start to smoke are between 12-16, how the fuck would this help that?

UN policy, which is mostly USA, destroyed cultures/religions and took control of these countries for the most part when information wasn't readily available to the public. Also pretty sure he talked about the prison population, mostly non-violent drug offenses. You also should learn to spell and use the proper words.

How in the hell is this acceptable?
Also I found this pretty stupid.

In Hawaii, 86 percent of adult smokers began smoking before age 21, according to the governor's office.
Yeah whoever made that statement from the government office is a dumbass, the legal smoking age is 18. So yeah people will start smoking at 18. This is fucked up and stupid, if you can fight for your country and die you should be able to whatever the fuck you want. 18 is fine for pretty much anything, you don't have to but you have to have the right to. I also think the legal weed smoking age should be 18 and not 21 in legal states.

Yeah, but getting fucked up and dying for your country are extremes. Neither is appropriate Do you seriously think highschool kids should be anywhere near ciggerettes during school hours?
I guess what I'm trying to say is 9teen?

At the risk of catching a lot of shit... I agree with this. In general, 18 year olds have their heads up their asses... I know I pretty much did. Additionally nicotine is one of the sneakiest, most subtle, most worthless, and at the same time powerful addictions out there. And don't come back and say that they are just trying to control us and blah blah conspiracy bs... As someone else pointed out there is a societal cost to these things and we need some amount of regulation. I promise we do not want crack being sold to just anybody down at the local kwiki-mart. Also keep in mind that this will hurt big tobacco, which everyone seems to forget about when they say increase cigarette taxes, and imo, phillip-morris is scarier than big brother. However perhaps I'm biased because I have spent many years learning about the government, societal needs and economic policy.

If anything i see it helpimg big tobacco. Tell the 18 year olds they can't smoke so what do they do? Give it just one try, before its illegal. You can fill im the dots from there.

Society has an interest in:
1. preventing young people from using cigs and drugs via information/education 2. getting people out of addiction and doing a lot for this because it often becomes a lifelong problem and risk them getting outside society/with no job etc. 3. secure freedom and safety for the majority

Living here in Hawaii, I know its not going to change anything. Almost every day walking around kids probably as young as 13 or so ask me for a smoke. (I dont smoke, and even if i did i wouldnt supply them with it) If kids want to smoke they are going to smoke regardless of age, I know plenty of kids on the mainland who started smoking young cause parents, cousins, brothers, etc would buy it for them. It's no different here than anywhere else. Is this bill a good idea, probably not cause as someone else stated making things illegal to you are older just makes them more appealing. Like drinking when your younger (you know that beer/alcohol tasted terrible but you werent supposed to be doing it and that made it that much more worth it)

Sorry for the double post but this is really what Hawaii needs to be focusing on. The homeless population here is out of control, the cost of living is through the roof and they just sweep it under the rug.

Regulations really don't help a thing no, I get that too here young people come up to me and ask for a smoke or lighter etc.
They're like 12-14 all of them lol
But it says a lot when people start smoking so early, that the state has failed, they didn't look like scum or outcasts etc. but like normal healthy teenagers who would get good grades etc in school
Regulations blind us from the real problems of society The real problems are helping our neighbor, securing no people on the street (backup systems), help to people in poor life situations (kids and no work, loss of home etc.)
The state should help people not control people
