I got out to Tuolumne for the last few days with a friend. it's been years. It was awesome to be back in the meadow.
Here's a view from the top of Daff Dome after our first route of the day

AWP, you'd be proud! I did some Mountaineering the second day!
Heading up to the north ridge of Conness. this meadow was gorgeous.

smoke/snack break on the ridge right before the summit

yeah it was rad. I stashed a beer and some dark chocolate for the lucky person who bags the next summit.
It was actually really nice up there too. I hung out for like a half hour. usually on a summit you gotta get your pic and gtfo

yeah it was sweet. the wind was blasting up the ridge behind our backs, but that was a nice little sheltered nook. I saved my other beer for the summit though.
It was extra tasty.

yeah dude you should, its so much fun.....not to mention the places it can take you. ive been riding some easy trails to get some experience and comfort with the controls and there have been a few straights where ive gotten into 5th gear....the interwebs says its top speed was 85 stock but its had some professional work done to the motor/carb so it can probably actually do 85 with me on it so halfway through 5th feels fast as fucking shit
and the torque! holy shit, enough to pop a wheelie in like 4th

Where is that? Wish I had areas to ride like that pretty much all there is around here is motocross tracks and tight singletrack in the woods.

Yeah I used to have a crf450 for a few years, a cr250 before that, and a couple others before those.
the 450 was my favorite by far. the bottom end of those beasts is uncomparable.
maybe in a few years when I have some money to blow I'll get another bike.
we'll see.

i almost got a yz426f but my friend talked me out of it because im a beginner and they are heavier....instead i got the yz250f and im glad i did, its fast and powerful enough for me and im glad its no heavier than it is i knew i didnt want a 2 stroke again - i had a 76 suzuki rm250 which was fun but i hated mixing the gas and oil and how it was air cooled
i bought it as advertised as an 01, the person who had it only rode it 2 times in 5 years, and didnt know shit about bikes and i took it to the shop to get its carb cleaned and all the fluids changed and just an overall tune up and found out through the VIN its an 03 and it had been ported and some other shit had been done i dont remember what so its faster than stock thats for sure. and i gained money on the purchase
im riding hare scramble/enduro type trails mostly right now....im hoping to make it to the dunes with my friends before the end of the summer
today i hit 5th gear on a gravel/dirt road and was probably doing 60 at least - talk about an adrenaline rush

rad man they've come a long way with four strokes. It's a no brainer now unless you do freestyle stuff.
advice for the dunes or sand in general - DON'T STOP! haha the minute you slow down, it's like quicksand, and starting is the hardest part. Then again, I never rode with a paddle, so maybe it's different.
be safe out there man!

From RMNP...
Long's Peak in distance, like 11.8k feet in photo. A little stroll off the road and a nice lookout point with snow all over for my florida brother to enjoy.

Another nice point. Fucking awesome views up in there.

If all things go according to plan, I'll be on a 14er in 2 weeks!!!!! Just scored a Mountain Hardwear EV2 for $385!!!!!!! What a fucking steal Past season but whatever.

haha you drove trail ridge road didnt you?
in a few weeks my family is coming out to visit and since i live in summit we'll go up route 40 and do the whole loop from grand lake to longmont and then go back to summit. its like an 8 hour loop but its worth it cause you can show people so much in such a short time

rad man
I really need to get out east and explore some of the CO mountains/rock.
stoked you knabbed a tent man! that's something still on my list. I have an old one that works, but it still have playa dust in it from '12, and I think it's gone beyond cleaning at this point

Yeah, CO is amazing. The mountains are really unbelievable. Relatively loose rock is quite common though. Yeaaaaa, super stoked about it haha. If you're looking for a summer tent, I have a Kelty TN2 and that thing is fucking bomb. Packs into a square for packability, relatively light, great fly/pole setup, and all mesh if it's dry out so you can sleep under the stairs. Pretty legit.

Yeah, loose rock is pretty common on most peaks that aren't really steep, and even some steep ones. dem be da breaks
Cool man, I'll keep it in mind, I think I wanna get a 4 season for multi-day ski touring, but we'll see how the summer weather goes. as long as it doesn't rain I usually don't even bring a tent.
do you guys still have much of a snow-pack up on the peaks?
we're pretty much melted out over here. it went FAST

we were at a super high snowpack cause it snowed like all may but then outta nowhere maybe starting a week or 10 days ago it melted fast as hell too....especially the past like 4 days things have really become uncovered. i live up near breck and the reservoir is super full right now, rivers are ragin and someone died in boulder creek the other day cause the flow is so high, their raft flipped.
finally some of the OHV trails over 12k feet are getting opened up
