Casing method and mix?

I have looked through the "Noob Forum"...I have searched and read different casing teks....but, this being my first run through, It is going to take more than that to prepare myself for the fruiting stage.
I want the biggest yield possible and I see no need to just use the brick methods just because it is my first attempt. No matter what i am going to have to learn the proper processes. I barely know how to set up a monotub or maintain the proper environment for fruiting. I am going to research that further on my own. The question that I have yet to have had answered is what casing mix to use. I have seen so many different variations and am just not sure what would be best. I am also limited on time and would prefer a mix that i dont have to order stuff for online. I am starting to think i should just go with 100% vermiculite to make it simple. I have a pressure cooker and whatever mix i use i want to be able to sterilize with that.
I am also wanting opinions on the differences in yield from casing the whole bricks vs. slicing them into sections first. I had and still have the intention of slicing them into sections first unless someone can explain how thats not worth my time.

A simple 50/50 of coir/verm will work just fine for your first attempt. Don't over think this shit and you'll do just fine.
Frankly, if you're just growing a run of the mill cube variety for your first attempt, I'd say to not even bother with a casing.

if monotube and limited on time, just fruit;
however, http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/18880716#18880716
there's your casing mix;
but, if you haven't gone through the process of isolating a culture I would suggest you fruit it, uncased.
