Are you still fighting or has it gone into remission?
I'm happy to hear that things are looking up for you.

The whistling in that song made it hard to appreciate.

What exactly do you do for your work? I love researching law and shit and was wondering is there a position helping an attorney build cases? Ive always wondered if attorneys do most of the stuff themselves or if they have to hire actual lawyers to help them or could it just be a law student?

Usually law students, but they do a lot of the specialty work themselves.
You could get a job in an attorney's office, but you'll probably just be filing and sending letters to previous clients about overdue payments.

I have been a legal assistant for more than 20 years. Areas of practice are criminal, family, probate and estate planning. The attorney has his license and they usually don't have an assisting attorney unless it is a firm or unless it is a capital offense then a person is entitled to two attorneys, first chair and second chair. It's alot harder than one might think, because it takes so much away from the firms regular practice. I am working for an individual. Attorneys go to court and I assist and do all the paperwork and meet with clients. They make the major money and assistants make a good salary but no where near what they make, but of course they have overhead costs. Legal programs and research engines such as Lexis and Westlaw. They do use investigators, mitigation specialists, mediators/arbitrators, parent coordinators/facilitators and process servers, that is just to name a few. The work is rewarding. My favorite is criminal law, I love to pick apart a police report and help define the case so to speak. Family Law Urgh! Don't get me started, no one is ever happy even if they get everything, it usually is the principal of the matter, (feeling are hurt and anger just permeates throughout the entire case, and if they're kids involved it just gets really nasty. When you go to law school or getting an associates decree for a legal assistant or bachelors degree for a paralegal it is part of your degree plan that you intern somewhere for your coursework. Plus it teaches the individual the real world of law. Stuff they do not teach in school. I remember while in school learning about torts and other inapplicable crap that I have ever used in the workforce. I'm sure it is useful if you go into the corporate world of law. I have had the privilege to work for an attorney and then go to school, it helped in legal writing skills, but that is about it.

Oh My God!!!! I pray not. If he saw me on here I'd probably get fired before I got started. I was upfront and honest with him about my cancer and he was already aware. I am at the top of my field, in other words, I have helped the community and other attorneys with figuring out stuff. He is a very sweet man. Dont want to give too much information. Now you have me paranoid.

I am in remission thank God.... However, the cancer was estrogen fed and I was on a blocker which drives me insane. They said that when, not if, but when it comes back it will either be in my liver or in my lungs. I have refused treatment of the estrogen blockers. They made me just miserable.

I do way more than file and send out letters, but I guess I'm an assistant so I actually get to assist him like a medical assistant. The only thing that is limited in what I do is actually present a case before the court. I can reset cases off the record. I enjoy my job and If I had to file and send out letters all day I just wouldn't do it. Not fulfilling enough. I like the helping others part the best.
