Bruising causes loss of potency?
    #21827178 - 06/19/15 08:29 AM (8 years, 7 months ago)

So I started out buying a few caps, and a good dose was between 3 and 4.  I've gotten a lot more interested in the last few weeks since they're in season, so I went out on my own hunt.  I struck gold and found a good little patch of them, so I squeezed a bunch of them to see if they bruised.  They all did, so I picked them, took them home and went to dry them.  By the time I got home they were all rather blue and I got pretty excited since I knew they were the goods.  I dried them under a heat lamp at about 35c (or 95f) overnight for about 12 hours.  By the time they had dried completely and were crispy I put them in a coffee grinder, blended them and capped them.

So my caps, compared to the ones I bought (which i knew were good) are much darker. Almost black. The ones i bought were brown.  I ate 3 of my caps tonight and 2.5 hours later there's been little to no effect.

So my question is, did my handling of the mushies affect their potency?  I've read that bruising them reduces their potency but some say its not any significant amount.  Im really devastated. Poor little shroomies :'(

It takes longer than that to dry them at 95 with a fan so they were not dry unless they were super small. And no most would say blue is just what they do.

And thus begins the  reverse-fusing of our one-dimentional understanding, and adds ever-expanding perspectives, in depth and number; splitting our perception, and in so doing, seemingly irrationally, creates yet more one-ness, with all that ever was, is and will ever be, streching across the infinite, inunderstood concept of everything, percievable and not.

they were dry enough to crumble when touched.

would not drying them more affect their potency though?

I just wonder that since my caps were so much darker, maybe by bruising them it damaged some of the goods. Thats compared to the tried and tested caps that i bought which were brown (the original colour of this species), which i assume were handled in a much more delicate way

The reason they blue is due to oxidization. When it oxidizes it loses potency out the ass. So handle with care. But in your case I feel like you just ran into some bunk shrooms my man
