Premature cap opening - pics

Greetings,
this is my first grow that made it into fruiting, so im quite excited. Sub is a whole parboiled rice with coco coir, in an approx. 1 litre plastic container. Multispore from syringe.

Its into fruiting now for 10 days (small SGFC), the biggest fruit seemed to show a lot faster than the others and its cap is already opening (its about 1 inch tall now). Ive read this can be caused by too high humidity - I feel like I mist quite heavily, but at the same time I fan many times a day, with the expeption of past 2 days - I was gone, a friend misted and fanned once during this time. Can this cause such a thing? At the same time, the sub seems quite dry to me, because it was colonizing for longer than a month. How shoud I proceed? Harvest when fully open and wait for the other pins that look normal to mature? Reduce misting? Moisten the cake?

This is 3 days ago, it looked normal to me:

Suggestions from some1 with experience is very welcome Thanks, Jcop

caps don't open prematurely, they open because they are ready to. just pick that one and leave the others until they are ready.
when everything has grown and has been picked, dunk the cake and start over.
you may find that you get more pins before the other mushrooms are ready to pick. if that happens you can let the new pins grow, or pick everything and dunk. up to you.

Thanks for the reply. I also just noticed the cap cracking from the edge into center, and the edge is bluing a bit. Does the substrate look too dry to you guys? I keep misting it until droplets of water are visible.

I had this happen in my tub,In my opinion and what i observed it is a mutant. It will continue to grow but the cap will be all distorted. look at my picture below this post, some of those started off just like that.

Could be an indicator of contam, but looks like you may have a weirdo. I'd eat it just to be safe.
Sub looks good. Make sure your perlite stays moist. Things can dry out fast in small containers.

Ok, the "mutant" seems to have stopped growing, while other fruits caught up with it and are now also opening caps...I guess this is gonna be a dwarf flush.

That thing has been ready for quite a while, were you going to get around to picking that or no?

Well, I was hoping it would grow out a little bit more never got informed they wouldnt grow a millimeter once opened... But if I wanted prints, I would have to wait longer right? Anyways its harvested now and the cake is being dunked, it seemed quite dry to me.

That's because it's not true.. After the veil breaks they are believed to produce less actives so for max potency we pick right before the veil breaks.

An opened cap is fine for prints. You can even take one that hasn't opened quite yet and break the veil yourself to get a cleaner print.

Hmm, but the gills were pale, seemingly without spores...perhaps in some strains the spores mature later, do they mature post-picking? Also they definitely stunted their growth, but I admit there was a bit of growth during today.
Thanks for your patience to all of you, Im learning alot here

You don't want to wait for a spore dump before you try to take a print.. If the caps doesn't look like it's dropping spores yet, it could just take a little longer to take the print. But leave a cap on foil for 24 hours and you'll have a nice dark print.
