Veterans post your point of view on the Ayahuasca diet.

Since there's so much mixed up information about the diet floating around, ranging from MAO diet 24 hours prior to fasting for 6 months before and after ( after a single experience) I thought it was time we gather some facts here. I've been all over the nets for months studying how to show respect for the medicine and such and mostly this has brought nothing but confusion.
When I finally had my experience two days ago I was indeed thankfull I hadn't put any garbage in my body lately but still Im not sure whether I did just too much dieting without really believing in it... I'm starting to tend towards the opinion the dieta leans towards the power of Placebo, you believe it will work, so it works and it would be more important to just be an overall healthy and happy individual to show my respect.
There's very little information from people self administering Ayahuasca on the regular in case of their diets and how they get the most out ofvtheir experiences so this thread could help lots of people looking for some healing. I won't be abled to post for a good while, Im off hiking and need to spare my phones battery.
Ah and lastly, what do you think of this ?

Placebo is a power force Though we tend to call it set and setting... :-)
You should do what you think is best for you...
Honestly, biologically speaking.... Your digestion takes 3-8 hrs, food is broken down to chemicals which the body may or may not use, and you poop and pee the rest out... Unless you are eating lots of heavy metals like lead or Mercury, very little harmful stuff sticks around.... Your liver gets rid of most toxic substances.... The myth of organic foods being better for you never has really been shown to be true... We as a species are omnivores... Eat plants, berries, fruit, meat... We have evolved that way to survive to reproduce....
A balanced diet is the best of thing for anyone... But again, if you feel better with specific foods or food sources, stick with that!!!
I don't do special diets, other than watch foods that could be a problem while I am taking the MAOI, just as a precaution. Being the reversable MAOI is only active for a short period of time, it really isn't that much of a problem.
Just my 2 cents.... People should do your own research and decide what's best for them!!!
Peace

I had an instant coffee three days after a retreat once, and it felt like 2cb.
I won't do that again.

I don't pay much attention to diet. But I do avoid my allergy meds and haven't taken Ayahuasca since I started taking an SSRI.

I have no special diet, i don't follow an Ayahuasca diet or the MAOI diet, and i take Ayahuasca pretty regularly, at least the Rue i do. But nope, never noticed anything negative come from eating what i always have, though Ayahuasca does make me wanna eat healthier and get healthier, get more into shape and all, which is awesome btw.

Personally I would avoid processed meat (hotdogs, bacon - in fact all pork and beef) and strictly avoid alcohol and soda for ~48 hours before and 8 hours afterwards. Beyond that, just eat a healthy diet with plenty of salads, fruits and vegetables, water and fruit juice for fluids.

Personally I diet vegan, no added salt sugar, minimal spices, minimal flavour, everything fresh, no soya, no yeast, nothing aged.
The general consensus seems to be the more work you put into Dieta, the more results you will receive from Madre Ayahuasca.

I avoid spicy food when tripping on anything. It's just personal preference.
When I first started Ayahuasca I came across this post on dieta.

I'd like to stress that my diet is a personal choice, not a requirement for the experience of Ayahuasca. I just feel cleaner on the inside and have a sense that I've prepared my inner self to receive the Aya.
On an EXTERNAL sense, I vacuum the house, dust, do all laundry (including folding and putting shit away), shave and shower before imbibing the magic elixir. I pay special attention to the room in which I plan on spending the majority of the time. Flowers, candles, and statuary are all pleasingly arranged in the bedroom, and I cue up some appropriate music - classical, Entheogenic, Shpongle, Shipobo shamanic chants, and Pink Floyd for various stages of the experience.
I NEVER trip without doing these at-home preparations. I hope this helps.

My favorite time to drink Ayahuasca is around 2pm in the afternoon with my closest friends in my green quiet garden. I eat a very clean big vegetarian meal during dinner the night before with very few fats, sugars, and salts, if any. Then before I sleep I drink a big glass of lemon water to flush out any left over toxins and prepare my stomach for a short breakfast and lunch fast the very next day. The lemons and this alkaline state has always been great for me.
By 2pm the next day the sun will have now started to calm. It takes me about an hour to slowly reach hyperspace which with just the right small teacup dose, will carry me through the sunset and be back right on time for another clean small simple dinner.
It took me quite a bit of experimenting to find my sweet spot, but living a sentient, simple, healthy lifestyle in conjunction with meditation and yoga exercise has allowed me to enjoy the truly indescribable depths of Ayahuasca on a regular basis.

Great blog, I like how they mention at the end that a good way to connect to the medicine is to venture trough the woods alone for some weeks, just what Im doing and I heavily recommend it in combination with Aya/ Pharma/ Changa.

Indeed that does sound awesome. And interesting time line. Any specific reason you prefer day vs night?

The crystallization of the deep blue sky. The subtle dancing of the leaves. The endless songs of the winds. The infinite mysteries of the Sun. Sunset. The ever movements of purple, orange, pastel pinks.
Just a personal preference.
Over the years, I've come to fall in love with beauty of day. Internally and externally.
