Tolerance in under 10 trips?

I became interested in having my very own psychedelic trip around this time last year. I'm almost 30 years old and, up until just recently in life, had never tried any sort of psychedelic substance. Not that I didn't want to, but I've never had the knowledge or connections to make or find them. It wasn't until I learned more about psilocybin containing mushrooms while pursuing my interest in wild edibles that I finally decided it was feasible for me to try a psychedelic. So I went on to learn more about mushrooms and their cultivation and even how to isolate good genetics with agar. I produced some nice fruits and was able to have my first trip.
My first trip was great. It caught me by surprise because I wasn't so sure anything would actually happen. I have been taking a mid-dose of an ssri for half my life and had read all about the blocking effects it has on the active compounds. So I fasted from my ssri two days prior to dosing an 1/8. I had a fantastic experience and looked forward to more adventures.
My second trip was pretty terrible. I was looking to have a similar experience to the first. I took an eighth again, after fasting from my medicine for the two days leading up to the shrooms. This time, I got stuck in an awkward come-up that never progressed and just made me feel like I was coming down with the flu. It kind of turned me off shrooms for awhile because it made me forget my first experience. It was just lame and left me with a bad taste. This was probably a month or two after my first trip.
I upped the dosage for my next few trips to the 5-6gm range and that made me remember how much I liked my first experience. I even had a couple "bad trips" that were difficult to experience, but therapeutic in the long run. Over this time, I actually lowered my ssri dosage. I probably had a string of 3-4 trips at this dosage range before noticing diminished effects. Btw, I've always dosed with tolerance in mind...2wks to a couple months between each trip.
So noting the fading effects of the 5-6gm range, my last attempt was around 8-9 grams. This time nothing happened at all. It didn't even feel like I had shrooms.. until later when I had to finish digesting them.
Does it seem more likely that my problem lies with mushroom potency or with my having built a tolerance? Could it be that somehow my ssri has just now decided to start ruining things? Tell me what you think. Thanks

If you're waiting at least two weeks, or even a few months, in between trips, then I don't see why there would be significant tolerance buildup. That's odd to me.

Yeah I'm more prone to believe it has something to do with my ssri. Maybe it puts a cap on how many psychedelic experiences I can have within a certain period of time? Idk. I've shared my mushrooms with friends and they have reliably had a good time..and the fruits and mycelium are really beautiful, so a potency issue seems less likely to me. I'd love to be proven wrong though. May have to try again with another strain soon...

What SSRI are you on? Certain ones have a much higher affinity for the 5ht2a receptor. To truly get it out of your system for example if you have taken it for 6 months, I would abstain for 30 days to get the true potency. I would honestly suggest not going off it depending what you take it for, just keep trying to adjust doses to compensate. I am not a doctor, take this advise with a grain of salt.

yeah i sorta foolishly overlooked the SSRI part, i'd assume that would have a lot to do with it

sertraline, a zoloft substitute. I know this pill gets a bad rap, but it definitely makes me feel better. I do hope to one day go off of it and like I said in the OP, I lowered my dosage recently. I'm now at a fairly low dose. The funny thing is that I tripped properly my first time and was at a higher dose of sertraline. It's just this last 8-9 gram trip attempt that's left me confused. I will say that though I usually wait a month or two between trips, this last one was after a 2 week break.
