In the past (and still to an extent today) America has been an extreme right country. Ever since the early 1900's, people started to realize it didn't work and then the progressive movement occurred. Ever since then, our country has become a much more viable place to call home.
I am personally sick and tired of a system that has never worked. You can say it did all you want, but the longer America keeps these old values, the further they get behind compared to the rest of the world. That is why liberalism is considered a progressive party instead of conservative.
If people stopped thinking with free minds, then progress would stop. Conservatism supports this. How can we as a country possibly stay the same forever in this ever changing world? This is the year 2015. The world is changing more than ever, and if people want our country to be stuck in an age of oppression then so be it. I, along with other free thinkers will simply move to other, more successful countries.
I am sick of discrimination. I am sick of religion. I am sick of old ideas. That is why I am liberal, not because I want meth heads to get free money.
Once conservatives realize the true values of a *real* liberal, they will then realize that it is to create equality as a whole, which supports EVERYTHING that makes up a country. You aren't better than anyone else. No one is. What makes conservatives think they are better than other people? It is scary that they have this mindset, and it is volatile to our entire country.
I don't know if conservatives are "better" than everybody else, but I do know that some people ARE born superior to others. Compare Stephen Hawking to a literal retard. Who is superior? The former. Consider a man measuring at 6 foot 4 to a midget. Who is superior? The former.
You liberals need to get rid of this mindset of "lol lol everybody be equal". This is simply not true. Some people are born superior to others, just like how some people are born taller/prettier/smarter than others. Deal with it.

They might as well be. I like anything that starts out with sweeping generalizations like "liberals are" or "conservatives are", because it signals that whatever follows is going to be a waste if time and may be ignored.
People and their ideologies are not monolithic. The go-to claims that ideologues from either side toss out so readily are specious at best, often conveniently ignoring context or nuance in favor of simple point-scoring sound-bites. It may be fun to find the biggest caricature in a given group and then attempt to paint the entire group with this narrow brush, but this is at best a dim reflection of reality.
No wonder then that things are so gridlocked in DC. Many people, politicians and regular citizens alike, are so caught up in this binary world-view that they are literally incapable of looking at anything from a nonpartisan viewpoint. Go anywhere you like on the internet and you will find those who bring partisan political discourse into it, usually by trying to associate something "bad" with all of "those other people".
It is sad that so much of the debate is driven by the shrill idiots at the extremes. It would be nice to take the opportunities presented and have open and honest discussion about these many difficult, complex and important issues. It is hard though, when the deck is stacked with so many bent on polarizing the debate from the get-go. Therefore, typically it reduced to partisan bickering - usually with a stiff application of incorrect "facts", unfounded claims and abject hypocrisy thrown in the mix.
Dude, I think you are very well-spoken and you are pretty bang on on a few points. Are you an American?

I am indeed an American - one who has grown tired of these "debates" because they go nowhere. Rare is the person who is both well-informed and willing to enjoin these discussions in good faith.
My home board is populated with graduates from my university, with many extremely well-educated and successful people. Yet there too political discussion tends to devolve into the same vapid "us vs. them" BS. As the rhetoric heats up the assertions become more and more specious, with the original topic abandoned in favor of mud-slinging.
I suppose many things have contributed to the mess we are in: the media, especially the rise of partisan media; people's tendency to live in an echo chamber seeking only those things which support their own worldviews; self-entitlement and the belief that their own vague opinion is superior to fact-based analysis.
It takes effort to wade through the bullshit and get to the facts; it takes intellectual honesty to question one's own beliefs or the convenient but suspect "facts" delivered while inside the echo chamber. Most people would rather simply root for their team, and loudly assert their opinion, than actually delve into the nuance of these issues. It is a sad state of affairs and in such discussions hypocrisy tends to run rampant.

Quote:
The University of California as a whole is an unwanted joke – where do I go to report that?
In the grand tradition of liberals silencing free speech, the University of California system has created a form where students and faculty can tattle-tale on fellow students and faculty if they hear something offensive and mean-spirited or anything microaggression-y that would violate these delicate flowers’ safe spaces. Probably. From the article –
Among incidents students and scholars are asked to report: “Expressions of bias,” “hate speech,” “bullying,” “intimidation” and “bias incidents.” Additional items that can be reported through the online intolerance report form are graffiti and “hostile climate” issues. The UC webpage defines “hostile climate” examples as including “unwanted jokes or teasing, derogatory or disparaging comments, posters, cartoons, drawings, or pictures of a biased nature.” So, they tried to define the undefinable – and ended up still confusing the heck out of everybody. This just means that some easily-offended co-ed could overhear something from a group of friends talking, take things out of context, get mad, and report that group for something that they didn’t even think about as they were doing it. Because the best way to combat hostile environments is to let everyone know they could be snitched on at any moment.
Good to know.
Basically, if you are prone to indulging in a little humor from time to time, better avoid the speech police at UC. Just don’t even attend one of their schools. Better yet, don’t even set foot on campus. Let them wallow in their cesspool of PC tyranny and reporting one another for stupid comments that college students make.
If anything, it makes us laugh at them even more.
will their stupidity ever end???
