Light, golden cap with dark speckles. Spores brown - unknown type - please advise.

Habitat: Found on deadwood log, moist area in York Region, Ontario
Gills: Very thin, dark with white highlights (see image)
Stem: No stem present
Cap: Light, golden brown in color with gentle, convex shape, speckled darker spots. Soft. (see image)
Spore print color: Brown (see image).
Bruising: Does not appear to bruise.
Other information: 'Earthy' smell. Nothing distinct. Added in a quarter for a size reference. These were the largest in a close (but not bunched together) group of mush smaller mushrooms of the same family.

if the OP still cares, when i guessed i didn't catch the "no stem" part. its kinda a big clue i should have paid attention to, eh!
and when you really look at it with that in mind, the print shape looks off for a fruit with a stipe, so good call Anglerfish

Thanks for the replies and sorry for the delay. The stem doesn't appear present at all. They were attached to the log directly at the side of the cap - no stem at the bottom and none at the sides - the cap portion is what connected it to the log. I hope that helps?
