How long does perlite last?

Hello.
I have a total of two "1 cubic foot" bags of perlite in my SGFC. The perlite is approx 4 months old. There is some green growing on the perlite-I believe algae. My cakes are gone & out of the SGFC. Is there any way I can keep this perlite for later use?

I'd say replace it if its green but you could bleach it rinse it the PC it.
Which is what I would do if I HAD to reuse it.

Ok. I don't have a PC. & it's a lot of perlite-over 10 pounds wet so It'd probably take a really long time. May just toss it & buy new perlite for any future grows. Thanks man, I appreciate it.

I'd say toss it man. I'd hate to see your grow get contaminated by trying to save $20. Ive rinsed and PCed it before with good results.
Maybe even bleach, rinse then boil it.
Wear proper respirator and or do it outside if your grill has a burner.
The supplies I would use would probably be H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide) Bleach (chlorine) Water and heat
DO NOT MIX chemicals and rinse well between steps

I've been using the same perlite for 2 years now. I just sterilize it in the oven in a big stock pot. I don't use it much anymore since mostly do bulks, but you could soak it in bleach water, rinse, then sterilize it. No problem if you clean it up...
