coir/verm/gypsum and water question?

iam going to use 4 quart jars of millet. so the ratio would: 4 quarts spawn 2.6 liters water 450g coir 1.6 quart verm table spoon of gypsum
i left 2.6 liters of water to reach 170f then added 450g of coir(not a block shape it was more like alot of pieces and fine coir) to the water only to find that the coir was ALOT! i couldnt stir it because it absorbed all the water in a second. so while still inside the pot over the stove i poured another 1.5 litres of cold water inside the pot the coir absorbed em instantly then it became wet and stir-able like the verm/brf/water mix and left it for like 5 mins on the stove then i took the pot off, poured the 1.6quarts of verm and the table spoon of gypsum and stired em all well and left em inside a bucket to cool down.
when i hardly squeeze a tennis ball like of the mix it gives me a stream of water not only a few drops.
too wet? too dry because i have to squeeze hard? if its too dry shall i boil a 0.5 liter of water and pour it or start from the beginning or what?

You want it so that, when squeezed, a few drops comes out, not a stream. Ime, the rule of thumb with hydrating is that it's better to be too dry than to be too wet, you'll get less contams that way

Add a little more dry verm to it until it's where you are comfortable...or use a pillow case and squeeze it...

mmmmmm...i think i ll squeeze water out of it before mixing it with the grains.
so what do you think about pouring the 1.5 liters of the cold water to the coir and let it sit on the stove for 5 mins, does the cold water increase the risk of contamination?
thank you guys for the info

For pasteurization you need an internal temperature of 140-160 degrees for at least 90 minutes.
So yes, your "tek" is perfect to encourage contams.

You want to get your substrate to field capacity before pasteurizing, never mind before spawning to it.

I don't know what you mean by this, explain a little better.

I left 2.6 liter of water to boil...then i added the coir to find that the ratio is not balanced and there is alot of coir compared to the water...so i added another 1.5 liters of water mixed it and left it on the stove for a few minutes (temp varied between 170-200) before filling my bucket with the whole mix of the coir verm water gypsum and leaving it to cool down.
