Hey guys! I had a plate of myc I was hoping to use to knock up a few jars, but the mycelium looks super sketchy and I'm a bit worried if it's contaminated or something. Here's a

Thanks for the help guys!

It's funny. I'm sitting here looking at my own jars, which look nearly identical to what you've got. I used pastywhites agar tek with a MS syringe. So far all 8 I inoculated look nearly identical. It has been about 1 week since injecting.
My guess is that there are MULTIPLE mating spore pairs, resulting in a blob of intergrowing mycelium, as opposed to the nice isolate pictures you'll see floating around.
How did you source your mycelium? Do your other agar look similar?

I had another plate that was mostly flat and looked like most agar plates. It's 3 transfers down from spores to agar, so it might be contaminated.
I'm hoping it's just a byproduct of multispore, and not bacteria.

How long has it been?
Looks ok, but the camera is focused on the bag in the background so it's hard to tell

The transfer was probably around a week ago. Sorry for the bad pic, I'll try and get a better one when my phone charges.

What is your agar recipe? If its particularly high in nutes it can grow really fluffy like that
I cant see it really cause of the lid. But in my experience, when in doubt do not put to grain. If you really think i has contam hiding in it Id just knock up some new plates.
Ita cube myc yea?

I got a bottle of premixed agar from one of the shroomery sponsors. It's a PDA mix though. I used 10.5 grams to 250 ml of water.
It is cube mycelium. The main thing that concerned me is that it is very fuzzy and thick over the agar. All except where I originally put the wedge. How would I know if there is bacteria with the mycelium on an agar plate?

That mix to water sounds right
Shine a light thru your culture and look at the back of the plate maybe uf its growing over something you can see.
Bacteria looks kind of like boogers, yellow/green/clearish slime
Mold is very hard to spot unless its a colony outsidr the culture, it can hide quite well in cultures.
Try taking another transfer or two, see what it does. If youre still worried start a new culture - much better to do so in the agar stage before putting to grains dude
