A good plan. I made sure that the spores from each variety were as fresh as possible to encourage simultanious germination. Do not transfer a lot either, one to ensure a clean culture is best. Even if you have non crossed hyphea they can still intersect with each other and exchange information via anastomisis. Love that more people are trying this kinda stuff. In 20 years imagine the cubes we might have to play with.

yeah was planning on swabbing fresh specimen and streaking the agar at the same time. might swab 2nd flush monsters of each. i plan on having them fruiting at the same time. ive lined up everything to be on schedule soon.

So would LIing two different agar plates together cause one mycelium to dominate the other or a cross of sorts? Is spores the only viable method of creating a new strain?
Lets say he crosses and they look like they don't intersect and then he LIs them, will they recover together or will he have two different strains?

Its a game of odds. Spores are a better bet because they can germ together. I wouldn't want to just rely on anastomosis and concert fruiting but its not impossible.
